I have my dress. But my fh wants to change after the ceremony into something more casual. I'm not sure how I feel about this. My dress was not that expensive, but to only wear it for an hour? And our ceremony is private. I would think our guest would like to see us all dressed up. On the otherhand, for purposes of dancing, going to the bathroom, etc, a less fancy dress would be nice. I'm curious what other people think of this idea.

Eric and I stayed dressed until about an hour before we left the reception, most of our guests and wedding party however changed before we got there because it was so hot outside and because I wanted them to stay comfortable. It is totally up to you, I'd say take a change of clothes, show up and show off and then change! JMO:bbmrgreen:

That is what our plan is. We will come to the reception all dresses mostly for picture purposes. Then we can change and get to party!! :D

I am the same as Stacey...I love my dress and I spent alot of money on that dress, so I will not be taking it off until I have to!!! I am sure that it is gonna weigh a ton and I will probably wish I had the next day...but I don't care I want to wear it as long as possible!!!!!!!!!!

me too. My dress is staying on until we get to the hotel. I want everyone to see us all dressed up. The only thing that sucks about doing this is we are having anoutside wedding in September, so it may be a little warm, but I think it's well worth it! :bbwink:

I didn't want to take my dress off at the end of the night. I figure it was one of my only chances to be really dressed up with DH, so I wanted it to last as long as possible.

I kept my dress on all day. I even walked the 2 blacks to the hotel in it from the reception venue.

Thanks for all your posts. I'm still really torn. I know I will only get to wear the dress once and deep down I really want to wear it all night.
But I know my FH doesn't want to wear a tux all night. I did tell him he could always take off the jacket and roll up the sleeves or something. It will be June, so possibly hot weather. And everyone else is going to be pretty casual.
I still have time to decide. But if I have to search for a more casual dress I don't want to wait too long.
Somehow when we decided to get married I didn't think decisions for the wedding could drive me nuts like this! Lol.

If you really want to wear the dress-then wear it all night. That is what I am going to do. I even want to wear it on the hour drive to the hotel. That is plan for now. Then a friend of ours who is driving us will take it home for me. I want to keep it on as long as possible!

I wore mine from 11:50 in the morning until 12:50 at night! There was no way in hell that either of us were going to change because you only get married once (in most cases) and if you spend money on a dress then you should wear it!!!!!!!!!! Ultimately, it's your call, if your FH wants to change and your cool with that, let him! And if you want to stay in your dress, then go for it!!

If you're in love with your dress, wear it all you want. :) If your party is going to last all night, and it's not too uncomfortable for you, I'd say wear it.:D

I didnt take mine off untill we got to the hotel at about 1:00 in the morning. I even wore it out to the bar after the reception.
Most every one in the wedding party changed during the reception. My husband and I stayed in out wedding clothes. Before heading out to the bar he put jeans on with his dress shirt and vest and cowboy boots. He looked so good in that.
I didnt want to take my dress off. I paid for it and I wanted to wear it as long as I could. I loved it and would never be wearing it again. So it stayed on me untill I had to take it off.

I like the idea of wearing the dress until about an hour before we are sent off, and then changing into a more casual (probably a classy tropical dress for me since we will be having beached theme wedding) outfit about an hour before we leave.
