I posted a picture a while back of some cupcakes I made with our wedding theme in mind and while they came out "cute" they just weren't what I was looking for!

The fondant sunflower seemed to overshadow the cupcake and look someone "childlike". Not that it was a bad thing, it just didn't have the classy cupcake look I envisioned for our wedding lol.

Here's what they looked like .....

So last night I went hunting for a new icing/frosting recipe and decided to do trial number 2! and here's what I came up with...

I think the smaller sunflower showcases the cupcake more. I still need to work on the icing color...it wasn't quite blue enough..I was going for more of a tiffany blue color so I'll keep at it.

And here's more of my little fondant sunflowers!

And just because I was so proud of my fluffy cupcake icing...

I love the second design!!!!! they look so classy and yummy =) I am a huge baker! and <3 cupcakes. How did you get your icing like that?

are you going to use a special color of paper? you could use the sylocone (sp?) cupcake tins so that it looks more like muffins and you can save on $$ I have never used them but I always think it looks good with no paper. How are you displaying them?? Does the icing harden? sorry for all the questions I just love this idea

I really like both but I agree that the 2nd one looks more wedding-y. :P I love them though!! Fantastic job! I agree with you that a bit more blue to the icing would be great. It would really "pop" the flower. :)

Cupcakes are looking good. I like them both. But I will say the larger sunflower motif would be for a more casual look and the smaller version for a more 'formal' look. At least that's my opinion for what it's worth!

I agree that our second go-round was more wedding-y! Are those little chocolate chips in the center or did you pipe the chocolate centers, too? Very pretty!
