The skin on my legs gets reeeeeeeeally itchy and dry. It's that kind of itch where you want to scratch SO bad, but you know if you do it'll probably bleed...but sometimes you just give in anyway because that initial momentary gratification feels so good.
I have an aveeno lotion that's okay, but does anybody have a lotion that they use that they can recommend?

When I get that dry I use baby oil. If you use at right after a shower and before you dry off it doesn't get as greasy and feels pretty good. My boss uses coconut milk for the same reason. I think she buys it at a health food store though cuz she said she also drinks a teaspoon of it a day.

I think baby oil might be a good idea. I never thought of that. ;) I'm willing to try just about anything. Every so often Ron will look at me and say "I see you scratching over there!" - a lot of times I'm doing it and I don't even realize it! :frantic:

i was just looking up things for my psoriasis in my scalp b/c it's awful - apparently chamomile (sp?) and lavender are really good for itching - they say boil some freshly cut up herbs and then let it cool obviously and then soak ur scalp in it. also tea tree oils work great for that too. :)

I spend all summers looked like a dried up scaley fish so I know what you mean.

I did find with the baby oil that it would do much better than the lotion. Just make sure you use a small amount or Ron will think you are his new slip-n-slide!

I use St. Ives Mineral Therapy lotion. It's on the cheaper side and it works! I like that it doesn't have a smell as well. Also make sure that you're putting lotion on after you shower. Hot water has a drying effect on the skin, so moisturizing right after will help keep your skin hydrated. ;)

I was thinking baby oil as well. I usually just use suave body lotion I think, but I don't get THAT itchy, tho I do have dry skin. So that usually does it for me. But I would think baby oil would be a good thing to try.

This is slightly off your topic Gwen, but I just had to comment. Kay, have you tried using Nutrogina T-Gel (Therapeutic Gel)? Or there's a knock off equate brand that Walmart carries that's usually on the shelf right next to it in the shampoo aisle. I have REALLY REALLY bad itchy scalp. If I go one day without using this stuff, I'm itching and itching all day long...and end up with scabs all over my head (just one day without it). But as long as I use this stuff once a day, I'm pretty good for the most part! I usually scrub it into my scalp and let it set there for a minute while I do something else in the shower, then wash it out, then wash all my hair with a better smelling shampoo.

I swear by this stuff! I haven't bought regular lotion since the first time I bought it!

When my sister had chicken pox when she was little my parents used calamine lotion on her and it helped. If it is just a small area that it irratated maybe try that. It isn't a lotion that you'd use as a moisturizer though - more of a medicated lotion that you would use to spot treat areas. haha it is pink

I'll have to remember some of these! My skin gets soooo dry and itchy in the winter that I tear my legs up by scratching. I love humid Iowa summers! My skin is so much healthier this time of year!

I hope you find some relief Gwen!
