I know that there are a lot of brides on here that a very hands-on with the music for their wedding, and I was just wondering what factors were most important for you when choosing yours? Are you selecting the music for all of the phases of your ceremony/reception, or just the really special moments? Was cost a factor for you?

When we selected out DJ it was important to us that they have experience at our venue, that tehy be able to do the ceremony and the reception, that they be very expereinced, that they have a great selection of music, that they have great equipment and that we like them!! We found a great husband and wife team that not only has experience at our venue, but also has a built in stereo system in the venue with seperate individually volume controlled speakers for each room, the patio and teh gazebo. They were very personable, have fabulous references and a great music selection. They cost a bit more than we planned to spend, but in the end we knew that they were right for us!!!

We had to choose someone who had experience in playing both Indian music and American music, and combining the two in a nice way. We found someome through a recommendation fromfamily and friends who had heard this guy play at a New Year's Eve party.

My DJ was very important to me. I wanted someone experienced and I had to click with them upon meeting. My DJ is president of the Houston Chapter of the American Disc Jockey Association and has lots of experience and a great reputation. He has a very large selection of music, a website that I can plan my music selections on, and also a place where guests can put in requests and I can look at that to make sure their requests are alright with me.
I am picking all the major event songs like first dance, cake cutting, garter toss etc. I am also selecting ceremony music and I have a few songs I want played at the dance. After that, it is his job to feel the crowd.
