I put yes because the other option wasnt true for me either.
I feel that it is important to have professional photos but not professional video. I could ask someone to use their home video camera to get the point across just the same for us... I cant afford the steep price tag of the videographer so we're just going to have someone video tape it and be done!

We got a pretty good deal on professional photographer and videographer together. I wanted one so that I have that to remember it by as well, and with a professional, I worry less about not being able to hear or see what's going on. But, had my budget been a little less, it would have been cut and I would've lived with it.

I put no because a videographer would be lovely to have, but they are very expensive. It is not a top priority. A photographer was a priority. I had to have a photograher. Even if I had more in my wedding budget a videographer would have been pretty low on the list of things I wanted. I probably would have to have probably another $10,000 or so in my budget before I would even consider it. I would want a string quartet over a videographer, chair covers and nice linens, make-up and hair done at the site, carriage ride to my ceremony, and some other things. So no, one of my friends can video it with a home video camera. That is fine with me.

I got lucky and found a good package that included both professional photography and videography. But, if not, I would have paid whatever it took to get a videographer there. I couldn't see every second of my wedding with just me. I needed them there to capture the moments that I missed. For what I paid for the entire day, I wanted to see and enjoy as much of it as possible.

FH really wants to have someone tape our wedding for us. My brother is no where close to a professional, but he has taped a few things in the past, one being my aunt's wedding. The video came out great. Plus, he tends to find some really funny things. So we have asked him to tape it for us. I'm kinda looking forward to what he tapes!

No necesarily. Did I spell that right? While it would be nice, we will have lots of pics, and prob a few camcorders anyway.

I didnt have the money to pay for one. I dont feel it is important to have a professional. As long as I had some oen taping it all. My MIL had her camera running the whole time she was there. We got every thing from the ceremony right up to a half hour before it ended. I love it.

I said no, but my FH would probably say yes. Our church does not allow videography, except for one camera that is in a fixed position, and the videographer cannot move. There is also a bracket on the wall of the back of the church where a second camera can be mounted. They have rules about where the videographer can stand, etc, and it seems like too much of a PITA to me. However, FH loves videocameras, and he has said he would like to record the wedding. I think he will probably just have a friend do it or something. It's not something we're spending money on. We can't have flash photography in the church anyway, and there is a possiblity that half of the photos of our wedding will end up being "staged" after the fact.

I put yes it is important I do not want to miss anything and when my mind goes I want to relive it as many times that I can. Photographs can't capture sound and all that stuff. JMO

Yeah my church had all of these rules about what the photographer and videographer could do too. Then I reminded them who signed that check. I told my videographer to do whatever he wanted. After the ceremony got started no one was going to have the balls to put a stop to it because my photogrpaher was leaning in for a better angle. I have great pictures and video to remember my ceremony by.

I would have loved to have one, but I don't think it is totally necessary to have one. They can get quite pricy...

Videography was not on my priority list at all. I hate home movies, and I knew I'd never watch a wedding video, so I didn't care to have it. My mother absolutely insisted that I'd always regret it, so we came to a compromise and had a friend video tape the ceremony. To this day I haven't watched it, so it sits at my mom's house where she can watch it to her heart's content. I have my pictures, that's all that mattered to me lol.

I think it is great to have both, but if you have to cut corners because of your budget, this would be one of the things I'd cut out.
The way I see it, I am more likely to look through my wedding photo album after the wedding than I am to watch a video ... but that is just me.
As a wedding photographer I use to have quite a few videographers that got in my way! "Get your own shot man! They paid us both to tell the story in a different way, not just for you to shoot video of me taking pictures!" So when I found one that I liked, we started referring each other and worked together alot ;)

At the time of my wedding I thought I absolutely didn't want it! But now I would love to have the option to be able to sit down and watch our wedding. It's been a year and it's amazing how somethings have sort of slipped my mind. (hey give me a break, I was sicker then a horse that day!! and loaded up on cold pills and advils!!) So looking back, I say a person SHOULD have one!! :)
