I just ordered my invitations Saturday. I have 132 invitations to go out and I ordered 150 invitations. I just counted the actual number of people that will be invited and it is 341 people! Oh my! Of course I counted everyone-children and infants included. I also have my grandmother on the list-whom I know will not be able to make it. Then there is also my friend Jenny in Pittsburgh who will also probably not make it. I also counted all the single people as having a guest with them. I really hope we only have around 200 people there.

I know. I kind of freaked out when I saw the actual number. The good thing is, some of these families have 4 children. If the parents don't come, that takes away 6 whole people. In that count are also probably at least 10 children under the age of 3 who will not be included in the count because we do not have to pay for anyone under the age of 3. Then there is probably 50 or so under the age of 12 who will be counted as half a person on the final count. That also helps. My goal is to come out around 200 people.

That is a HUGE amount of people! Several of them probably won't make it though, so that'll bring that list way down :).

Good heavens. I don't think that I even know 300 people! I want to keep our guest list really short.

We have big families or it would not be such a big list.

Everyone told us before our wedding that 20% would not be able to come. We didn't believe it. It ended up almost being exactly 20%

It kind of sucks in a way because there are things that I would like to have done to make my event more elegant like have chair covers and nice table linens. Our food is fine with me, I love fajitas and the fajitas there are great, but I would have liked a little more elegance in the meal.
But I would not give up inviting my family for anything. I like being a part of a large family. They are what is going to make my wedding-not nice table linens or filet mignon. And my parents are giving so much for my wedding that I can't complain. I have lived on my own for 3 years and they are still are paying for every cent except for typical things the groom traditionally pays for. It is going to still be the perfect wedding!

If I had allowed children our list would have been well up and over 300 as well. Have you thought about doing an adult only deal?

As long as you're happy, Kacie, that's all that matters. :D

No. I have always wanted all the kids at the wedding. I'm not all that nervous about the people. It's more than I thought at first, but it's okay. There are some things that I just can't have, but it's worth it to me to see the whole family there-kids and all!

All that matters is that you get the wedding that you want. If you are 100% happy with how things go, perfect. If not, don't be afraid to stand up for yourself and make it right.
