I don't know what typically is done, but we just ordered our invites and our RSVP date is about 3 1/2 weeks out. That leaves plenty of time for stragglers to get theirs in, phone calls to be made, and time to get the final guest count in to the cateerer.

Since our guest count is due to the site 10 days prior to the event, I need my cut-off date to be about 3-4 weeks out. I'll have to make phone calls and it gives me time to contact the "B" list if we have trouble meeting our minimum. We're sending our invitations out fairly early so people have time to respond!

The venue needed a final head count 3 days (I think) before the event. So I made my RSVP date 2 weeks before so that I wouldn't frantically be calling people at the last second.

I have always suggested 2-3 weeks prior. Many caterers and event facilities I've worked with needed the final head count 1-2 weeks before, so I think this gives every one plenty of time.

I believe we went 3 weeks before so that we would have time for stragglers. They needed final numbers two weeks before. And then of course I had to make those **** calls that half of the people didn't return. WOuldn't it have been easier to check no and stick it back in the mail??

Our RSVP date was 3 months before our wedding. That's mostly because almost every single person we were inviting was coming from out of state, or out of the country and needed time to make arrangements. Plus, we needed an initial count when we signed the contract for our venue. It worked out, we had 75% of responses by the rsvp date. And then, the others were not coming, as we learned when we called them all 2 weeks ago.

Ours was 2 weeks before the wedding, 1 week before our final count was due. I think it all depends on the arrangements you have with the caterer.

Ours was three weeks before. I sorta wish I'd sent out invites a week earlier and then had four weeks before, that way I had a week more of leeway before the count had to be to the caterer.... as it was, we only had a week leeway.

We made ours a month before the wedding. It worked out pretty well. Almost everyone got back to us in time.

Our RSVP date was 3 weeks before the event. We purposely made it a week earlier than planned (it was originally 2 weeks) because we knew there would be a lot of stragglers and wanted to give them a little leway.

I didn't do RSVP, but if I would have it would probably have been 2-3 weeks.

We asked for our RSVP cards to be returned on July 15 2006, we are getting married on Sepptember 16 2006. But we sent our invites out early because most of our guests(90%) are from way out of town. Also we footed a lot of the bill and about 40% of it is being payed by my mom, we all needed some time to come up with money, and we needed to know well in advance. I just wanted to be well prepared.
