Okay, so they may not be facts. I heard this on the radio, so I have no real credible source, but I figured it'd be fun to share facts and if anyone feels the need to confirm validity feel free.

This is just for fun though, so don't take everything in this thread as credible :D

Share your fun facts!

Here's my first one:

1-16 oz can of rock star energy drink contains as much sugar as SIX KRISPY KREME DONUTS!!! Can you believe that!

No wonder they keep you energized!!

This may not be that fun, but I found it interesting, plus babies are ALWAYS on my mind these days!

Did you know that babies do all kind of weird things in utero, like lick the wall of the uterus?

This post reminds me of that kid in the Jerry McGuire movie who always stated facts... "Did you know that the human head weighs six pounds!" (I can't remember how much he actually said!).

Here is one ... The sentence "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter in the English language. That is why it is commonly used as a sample sentence for computer fonts.

The starch in Crisps (Potato Chips i think the US call them) can rot your teeth and cause more damage than drinking Coca Cola, eating Chocolate or eating Sweets (Candy). :whoa:

I believe this is why it's said to avoid giving children crackers. The starch in crackers can rot teeth even worse than candy can

OMG seriously?!? I had no idea! Totally changes the way I look at crackers. Luckily I don't really like salty snacks.

And Justina, the fact I posted creeps me out, too! I mean, they are just exploring their home with the senses they have available, but still!

Sugar dissolves when it's sitting in teeth - the saliva ensures that it dissolves within a short amount of time. However, starches, such as crackers, cookies and such, sit in the teeth and don't dissolve like sugars do because they're solids and the chemical breakdowns are different than sugars/hard/chewy candies. Interesting huh? :rain:

In the early days of the telephone, operators would pick up a call and use the phrase, "Well, are you there?". It wasn't until 1895 that someone suggested answering the phone with the phrase "number please?"

How rude is that? ahahahah

It is believed that Shakespeare was 46 around the time that the King James Version of the Bible was written. In Psalms 46, the 46th word from the first word is shake and the 46th word from the last word is spear.

I actually looked up Ps. 46 and counted the words like it says - this one's confirmed correct hehe! I was curious what can I say :toast:

Menstruation may have led to humanity’s sense of time as most early lunar calendars were based on the length of a women’s menstrual cycle.

I always wondered about casuality on that one. Like, are lunar cycles and menstrual cycles coincidently the same length of time, or is there something else to it?

One of the most infamous precognitive dreams in history was President Lincoln's in 1865. The president envisioned his own demise just a few days before he was assassinated in Ford’s Theater on April 14, 1865.

Oh oh, History Channel knowledge here! :geek: Did you know they used to make some coffins with a device on them that had a bell up top.. Just in case you were buried alive? O_O They had other ways too, like holes with strategically placed mirrors i believe..

By raising your legs slowly and laying on your back, you can't sink in quicksand.

During WW II condoms were used to cover rifle barrels from being damaged by salt water as the soldiers swam to shore.

And actually they hired people sit in the graveyards at night and listen in case anyone started ringing a bell. Which is where the term "Graveyard shift" came from.

I think anyways haha

That's also where the expression "Saved By The Bell" comes from.

There is a website online that has Webcams to the insides of coffins. So family and friends can watch the corpse decompose. I cant remember the name of the site. something like watchmerot.com

And i'm not joking.

That's actually a myth. The appearance of hair and nails growing is an illusion due to the body dehydrating.
