gone for the weekend

I am on lunch at the moment but am out of work early as we are headed to Old Orchard Beach to meet up with my sister and her family. We go one weekend every summer. Nicholas has been putting money aside each week so we have plenty. The kids get to go on the rides at the amusement park. We stay at a camp ground for 2 nights. I cant wait to see my sister and my neice. I will be back some time on Sunday. I cleaned out my PM box so thre shold be no problem with sendin gme addresses for the postcard exchange. I will go through them either Sunday or Monday night. I will miss you all and I will be thinking of you Ellen on Saturday. Have a great wedding.

Well we made it home. I was done with when we got home. I crashed as soon as I got in the door. I slept for about an hour or so and then had to get up to do laundry. That sucked but had to have work clothes.

We got to the camp site about 7:15 and it was raining. After my BIL treid to get tarps up and it not working so we ended up sitting outside the store out of the rain it finaly stopped. But my brother had to put our tent up in the rain before it got dark. So needless to say we got dripped on most of the night.

The next day was great. We got up about 7 or 8 ( not sure, I dotn keep time on a weekend like this ) and we went to breakfast at the camp site. I didnt have a swimsuit yet so I watched every one else swim in the pool. Then we went to a huge flee market, the kids got a couple of things and I got a new balnket for my bed.

Then back to the camp site for lunch before heading down town.

We took the trolley down to the amusement park. The kids rode rides forever. There was about 16 of us total. Needless to say with teenagers, little ones, and adults, we were never all together during the day. I focussed on my kids and made sure they had a good time. I stopped at a shop and got a nice swim suite, a little more then I would have spent but it is a nice suite. After the rides we went down to the ocean and my sister, her step daughter her neice and myself went in. No one else wanted to go in. The little ones played on the shore. My BIL came in and brought my son out untill one huge wave got him in the face and my son had enough and wanted to go back in. Rod ( BIL ) grabbed me to block the wave, like this is gonna happen, I am 5'5 and he is over 6' lol. He was just trying to be funny. My sister got hit by a wave and I was too busy watch ing my son that I didnt see it and she got pushed into me and I ended up swallowing about a cup of water. That was fun. lol But we did have fun. The waves were huge.

After that we all got seperated again as my daughter went with her cousins to ride some more rides and I took my son with my friend and her little boy. We all finally met up and decided that after being there for almost 4 hours it was time to head back to camp. So we got ever one together and we all headed back. Me with the biggest sunburn ever. And yes I used sunblock, twice actualy but I still got burned bad. So I headed straight for the pool when we got back. Most of us went swimming for a while and then the kids went to a magic show. Then dinner of hot dogs and hamburgers again.

Kids were pooped so they were out real early. DH went to bed kinda early cause he was getting eaten alive no matter what he did. I stayed up with my sister and the others because this is the last time I will be able to spend time with her for a while. I am not sure what time I finaly went to bed but I know it was after 12:00.

We were all up by 8 the next morning and packing up to head out. Every oen else headed back north. We headed to Yorks Wild Kingdom Zoo. We stopped for breakfast at BK and then off to the zoo. We stayed there for a while then headed home.

By the time I got to bed ( after my nap and during laundry and grocery shopping ) I was so hurting. Still am. My sister said she was gonna bauy some spray paint to make me all one shade of red. I have burn lines from my tank top and then my swim suit.

I intended on taking pictures but to tell ya the truth we do this every year and I was having too much fun to take pictures. I am still beat now as I had to work today and didnt sleep well from this sun burn. So I am not sticking around much tonight. Gotta try to get some rest.

other than the sunburn, it sounds like you had a nice time. Getting away with a bunch of people is always fun, and it sounds nice that everyone was willing to go and do their own things, without worrying too much about what everyone else was doing. Makes for a more relaxing time.

Glad you made it back in one piece. Take care of that sunburn!

I usually get pretty lucky about not burning. (I got dad's Italian complexion, not mom's Scandanavian one). But on the rare occasion the sun beats me, I find that blue gel stuff works really well. If you don't have any of that, try dabbing the area with cold milk. It supposidly pulls the heat out and keeps the skin moist. I don' tknow what the hell it actually does but in the end it feels a little better.

Thanks all, I have used aloe and vinager. Yes vinager. It cools it off and takes the sting out.

Glad to hear that you got back safe Gwen!! :D Sounds like you had a wonderful time...I do the vinegar thing to on my sunburn...unfortunately I think I'm also kind of allergic to the sun because i break out in this funny rash! Anyhow, hope you get some good sleep tonight! Take care Hun!! :D
