So I'm sitting here listening to music and I got to thinking.

What is a favorite artist/group of yours that other's in your personal life may not know that they are a favorite? Like as in maybe it doesn't fit your typical personality or music style. Maybe you are usually a hardcore rock person and you'd never admit in public how much you really like the Backstreet Boys haha or something like that.

I grew up with two parents who loved Ozzy Osbourne. We had a cat named Ozzy from the time I was 4ish until I was 16. I was the 4 year old singing "No More Tears" and the like (well and also various guns and roses, Foreigner, Boston ect songs).

So yes, I may be a Christian with a degree in ministry and have never used a drug or smoked anything in my life (basically opposite of Ozzy), loves Ozzy Osbourne and often find myself listening to him. But most people aside from my parents and Matt probably would be pretty surprised by that. Though I am not embarrassed by it :) I'm not an obsessed fan or anything and don't have posters, shirts or anything, but do need a "Goodbye to Romance" "Changes" or "Mama I'm comin home" fix every once in a while and love his voice haha

i mentioned in the random thoughts thread but i'll elaborate here :)

Green Day. LOVE EM... have loved green day since they released Dookie in middle school... Granted since american idiot i fit in MORE at the concerts b/c they've got a large high school-aged following now... back in the day i wouldn't have fit so i never went to a show and really regretted it. So when they released their new album I joined their fan club found out about a secret show they were playing in NYC for a select audience of 2000 concert winners, entered and WON so i said AWESOME i'm GOING... then they announced another "less secret" show at bowery ballroom which holds no more than like 400 and i snagged a ticket. I had an awesome time and re-fell in love w/the band and now go to all the shows i can get to LOL

I didn't really tell my friends or fam b/c i used to be this obsessed w/Michael jackson (to the point we're i actually met him several times and worked on his official website) and they'd mock me so bad... (still love him and his music but not the same level of obsession)
some of em are starting to pick up on it and my FH generally knows that i'm at g-d shows but sometimes i jsut say I'm going to X's for the weekend and go! haha it's bad i know i shouldn't lie but i don't want ppl to think i'm a crazy groupie more than they already do :-P

I'm a country/Christian girl... I grew up on church hymns (literally.... didn't listen to anything else until I was about 12). Then I listened to Country and Christian through high school and such.

Many people would be surprised when they ask me who my favorite band is and I say Nickelback

Hmmmm... I think everyone would be shocked to know that I like Nine Days, haha. I'm not really sure if any of the artists I like would be shock anyone. I mostly stick to the pop/rock or pop/country artists. I always surprise myself when DH listens to the "hard rock" station, and I find myself liking some of the songs on there.

I primarily listen to rock music but I love Pink. I would never admit it, would never go near a show, and I keep the CD in my car so my husband won't find it. But I love her.

I'm a huge Rock fan. AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Nickelback, Deep Purple etc. Seen them all live too. Even appearing in the AC/DC Video for "Rock N Roll Train"

Lately i've been getting into Three Doors Down and Three Days Grace.

But when no one is looking i listen to Eric Clapton and ELO. :frogg:

I like classic rock, 90's rock, industrial, like Tool and RATM and whatever Ladytron is haha. Right now I'm obsessed with a local rapper out of Minneapolis named Dessa (http://www.doomtree.net/dessa). I relate to so little, but it's so witty!

My guilty pleasures? Russian rap (think Timati) and uh...

*looks around*

*considers if she wants to post on the internet*

Lady Gaga.

But like, I kind of hate her at the same time. Her music is like heroin -insanely addictive yet it makes you feel good without substance haha and I definitely get sick of it after a day.

Hmmm I'm not sure that I even have a good answer for this! I'm so random with my music interests that I'm not sure anybody would be surprised by anything anymore! I guess I do like some pop tunes/artists that I might be less than excited to divulge to my indie music loving friends...Hello, old school Spice Girls. I also, um, know the entire Evita soundtrack. :laugh2: Don't cry for me Argentinaaaaaa...

Le Mes. the 3 disc album. I sing along and hit the high notes at full blast.

Marriage of Figiro with Fredericka Von Stada. LOVE her voice. I am a classical music junkie. Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Brahams and Vivaldi.

I also have 3 discs of bagpipe music. It makes my heart beat faster. When I was in College, there was a history professor that that would play his pipes on Saturday night walking up and down the collonade and it would just echo over the campus. :luxlove:

I love the Bowery.

I love a lot of smaller Indie rock-type bands. But I do like Jim Croce and Jonas Brothers, too. I also find myself smiling when NKOTB comes up on my ipod.

I usually listen to Alternative, Indie Rock, Rock, Progressive. But there is one artist I secretly  that all my friends laugh about.

.......I'm gonna say it...........

..........maybe.....................

.....Britney Spears.

Yup. Don't care what they put in the papers, I don't care about celebrities personal lives. Her music wants to make me shake my booty. Old stuff, new stuff. Doesn't matter. :peace:

My music is so random.

Everything from Nsync to Showtunes, Lady Gaga, Relient K, Ozzy, Metallica, Stellar Kart, Tim McGraw, and Shania Twain. I just appreciate good music. I don't care what style it is. No one is surprised by anything that comes up on my iPod!

I was surprised by this too ;) I love Ozzy as well.

I mostly like rock, alternative and metal ... but I will sometimes listen to some of what I call the "girl pop" like Pink, Avril Lavange, Paramore and the like. I don't own any of their music, but I have a Slacker station for my "fix" ;)

Thanks for sharing girls :)

Matt's best man is very "preppy" looking and very clean cut, ect. Not long after I met him I was very surprised to learn that his favorite type of music is the screaming music lol Songs that like I'm not even sure there are actually words too, I just think they are screaming as loud and as high pitch as they can haha Just goes to show that while stereotypes are sometimes true, there are those that break the mold :)

Christinia Agularia (however you spell it) My niece turned me on to her. When I'm in the Jeep I tend to listen to ZZTopp on Skynard. We were crusing the other day and RC popped in a CD and all of the sudden we were blasting Barry Manalow. LOL

You know what's funny is that I am a huge fan of rap & RnB. I grew up on the west coast so I love to hear my music at deafening levels and I purchased a really nice Pioneer sound system to put in my car for that reason.

But I absolutely love my rock and alternative! My most favorite song recently is Shinedown's Second Chance, and I am an all time fan of Depeche Mode. I don't know where I got this from because both of my parents were into the old skool RnB and jazz.

Just to add a wrench in it, my husband listens to country music, which is now fully ingrained in my daughter's requests for music, so she has this huge assortment of music on her ipod.

I guess my guilty pleasure would be just about anything from the 80's and Sublime for some reason. I don't smoke pot but I just love singing along to their music. :laugh2:

I also enjoy artists/bands that aren't as mainstream as what you hear on the radio but I rarely indulge myself because I'm usually happy with listening with whatever is playing on the radio and don't usually bother with my ipod. If I know the words, I'm happy. LOL
