Does anyone know anything about online ordinations? I've thought about it as an alternative to all of the issues I'm having with ministers. Thought I'd ask.

Check out these sites. But take to mind that I haven't had a chance to check them out fully myself so take your time really looking them over.
www.ulc.org
www.spiritualhumanism.org
www.openordination.org
I hope that helps.

each state has different requirements, but I know in Ohio you can go to www.ulc.org (I think) and pay to be ordained. They send you a certificate that you have to send to the state in order to be legal. It's all fairly simple from what I understand. We wanted jareds uncle to marry us, but he declined worried that the online process wouldn't be legal...i assure you it is. the officiant we used was ordained online with no problems...and we are definitely legally married. She is on this site, but i'm not sure of her screen name, possibly Charity, if you want to try sending her a message, she might have more info.

After they get ordained through ulc.org, they HAVE TO register in the state where the ceremony will be performed. If they don't, the ceremony won't be legal and valid. It's an easy and relatively quick process (at least is is in Ohio), but absolutely necessary.

Believe you me, you're talking to the right people about crazy ****. It seems that it's the footnote to wedding...everything gets crazy! And it's silly kind of crazy that you would never think of until you're in the situation going, "Holy ****! I can't believe that!"

My sister in-law is upset about all of this. The ministers are telling her that they don't want to put their "stamp of approvle" on the wedding. THEY ARE ALREADY MARRIED!!!!!!!!! What is so hard about that. They are not going to sign the paper b/c there are not papers to sign, ther are already signed :)

Hey I'm in the same sort of position. I'm not already married, but because I'm getting married outside a Catholic priest won't officiate the ceremony. Doesn't make my mother too happy.
