Well, where is it?!
Ours is located off of our kitchen on our main floor(Laundry/mud room). Some days I love it, some days I hate it. We are actually considering moving it to our basement and using that extra space to expand the kitchen.
I'm curious to see where everyone has theirs, and if it works for them or not!
I forgot to add a poll...Mods...HELP! :)
First/Main Floor
Second Floor
Basement
Garage
Other
Ours in on the 2nd floor right next to the master bedroom and I hate it!
The first week we moved into the house we hooked everything up and used the washer, only to find out that we didn't push the hose down far enough and the water pressure popped it back out. Needless to say, we had ceiling damage in our brand spankin' new house..luckily the builder fixed it for free when it was out fault.
Next house, I want 1st floor laundry room with a utility tub and a place to put shoes!

Ours is in our basement. We have an unfinished basement with two rooms so one room is our laundry room and we have the other room set up with a TV and stuff. It's not very cozy but we can sit down there and watch movies while doing our laundry.

I added a poll for you Jeanne. :)
Mine is in a closet in my kitchen...ugh. It's a pain in the butt. The door swings open toward the kitchen table, which is in a tiny space as it is, and on laundry day I have piles of laundry on and around the table. It makes me feel like a slob, but I just don't have anywhere else to put it. Hey, wanna eat a sandwich? The socks were just lying there an hour ago...blech.
Since we're in a condo and only have one floor it's on the one and only floor. ;)

Ours is upstairs thankfully!! I have a bad back and hate carrying the hamper full of clothes down the stairs, it really does hurt.

I had a difficult choice between main floor and "I don't like clean clothes." Haha, just kidding :). Our house only has a main floor, so that's where the machines are. We have a utility room that you go through when you go in through the back door. It's right off of the kitchen. If we had a basement I'd probably consider having the laundry down there and add on to the kitchen, but I do really like not having to go up and down stairs with full baskets of laundry... me plus stairs plus heavy big objects is not good. Lately I'm happy that we can use our washer now that the pipes are fixed; it's a lovely feeling.

Our laundry room is in the basement. I'd rather it be on the 2nd floor but I'll have to wait till our next house. It is nice to not hear the laundry if I do it at night.

I couldn't decide how to vote because a few things would be true, so finally I went with "other."
Right now, in our townhouse, the laundry room is on the second floor and it has the laundry machines, furnace and water heater. I'm not crazy about the second floor laundry--there is water damage on the ceiling below it, and there is no great way to vent the dryer so it goes up, up, up through the attic and doesn't vent well.
In the house we're buying, there isn't a laundry "room" but there is a laundry closet in the first floor hallway, right off of the kitchen. That's also not ideal for me, but I prefer it to the upstairs.
Dream house would have a separate, nice sized utility room on the first floor but not terribly close to anything. Just its own little room at the end of a hallway or something would be great.
We live in a one story apartment and ours is in the hallway. The little spot they're in used to be a closet, but right before we moved in they took out all of the shelving and put the washer/dryer in there. Awesome!! We didn't except to have a washer/dryer in the apartment at all so we were pretty thrilled.

Ours is upstairs in a closet near our hallway/landing/gameroom. It was a real :censored: to get the washer and dryer up the stairs and it will be another :censored: to deal if it floods or anything, but all of our bedrooms are upstairs and it sure is nice not to have to schlep laundry up and down the stairs!

Our washer and dryer is in the garage. When we first moved into the house the hookup was in the basement. We have some crazy stairs going to the basement and knew we would not want to have to go up and down there all the time. So DH fixed it up so that we could have them in the garage.
That was really the only other option the way the house is. One day when we build "the big house" we will probably do something different.

Ours is also in a closet off the kitchen. It's kind of handy because the island doubles as my folding counter, but I really wish it was an actual ROOM where I could leave a basket and piles and not have to worry about hanging stuff over the kitchen chairs!

Our laundry room is on the main floor just outside the main bathroom. On the other side of the laundry room is the living room. I actually love the placement. Since we shower at night (I hate getting in bed dirty!!) all our clothes go right there. Plus then I can do the laundry while spending time in the livingroom with the kids and not have to keep running elsewhere to check if it's done or switch the loads.
Mine's in the garage. I don't have a washer right now because the drain pipe broke out of the wall. I had the plumber out to fix it and he said he wouldn't touch it because it's not up to code. Awesome... so it takes up a whole corner in my garage and I can't even use it :irked:

I voted second floor - in the house we are buying the laundry is upstairs by the bedrooms. I am looking forward to the convenience of having laundry close the where the clothes are, but I am not sure how much the noise will bother me.
In our old house the laundry was in the basement, and I HATED going up and down those steep, narrow stairs with laundry baskets, and it jsut never really felt like a clean space to me.
Right now we are in an apartment with a laundry room for the whole floor - which happens to be across the hall from our apartment.

Ours is in a utility/mud room that is off the kitchen and where we come in when we use the back door. We only have one floor so its on the main floor.

We live in a split level.
My son's room is in the lower level. There is a 3/4 bathroom across from his bedroom. The washer and dryer are in there.
It's a little weird because I'm still attempting to figure out if is was laundry room turned into a bathroom or the other way around.
I guess I'm just glad it's not in the unfinished storage room next to it. However, having it in his bathroom, doesn't leave any room for a wash tub or to change his bathroom into one with a bathtub instead of just a shower.

Pretty much across from my apartment room. We have a shared washer and dryer.. But at least i only have to open the door to see if someone else is using it! :)

Our is in a closet in our finished basement. I hate it because I have to drag the laundry from upstairs where our bedroom and full bathroom is, down all the way to the basement, so 2 flights of stairs and vice versa when it's done. Now that I am pregnant it's becoming more challenging.

My Washing Machine is in the Kitchen by the sink. The Tumble Dryer is in a "Utility Room" off the Kitchen.
There's no water into that room. So we have the Dryer, Fridge and Freezer there. Along with extra cupboards for Food etc.
Plus from tomorrow DH's PC is going in there too. There's loads of room. Plus i get the Dining Room back. ;)

We live in a mini home so there's only one floor. Its in a closet off the kitchen towards our master bedroom (essentially it is the hallway to our bedroom). I don't mind the location - it beats up and down stairs like our last apartment. I do however, wish they had made the closet a bit bigger as when I open the dryer door it runs into the closet door which can make it a bit more difficult to get items out.
In my next house, I'd like a separate room on the main level where I can have shelves and a folding counter, etc.

Ours off of the kitchen on the main floor. No basements in Japan!

I enjoy having the washer and dryer on the second floor. It's located next to the guest bedroom and it's quite convenient. I hate lugging laundry up and down stairs.
As for noise we got the side loading washer and dryers. You can hear a little noise if the door is open otherwise you can barely tell its on.
