For me personally I would pick candy because I love sweets!

Candy. Edible favors always seem to go over better.

And in my experience, my plant would probably die the next day. I don't have a green thumb lol!

I see the ladies' points about the candy. Personally, I like the idea of a plant better because it's something that will last (for most people, i think?) and is a useful item that can be looked at again and again. But, do whichever you're most comfortable with. My favors are the champagne glasses, personalized with our names and wedding date. Hopefully others will get more use out of them after the wedding too.

I like the plant idea too.......I have a green thumb!

Unfortunately I am hypoglycemic and too much sugar causes me to have diabetic problems. Some of you guests might be that way too.

I think overall more people will like the candy but the plants are a nice gift. Honestly I love them both. I would go with whatever reflects you and your fiance the best!

I have a green thumb too so I would love the plant. Not much on candy.

I think that the plant would be nice. My parents got that at a wedding they went to and loved it.:D

I really like the idea of the potted plant but cant imagine taking care of 200 plants for my reception. I think Im going to do a plant that I saw in one of my bridal magaizeines this month for my bridal shower and something else for the reception. That way I get to do both!

I think it was modern bride. They took a small terra cotta pot and painted it with chalkbored paint. Those were used as place cards too. I love it!

Oh lawd 200 plants would not be what I would want to take care of either!

Next time I will keep my big mouth shut! LOL!

Those pots sound adorable...marthastewart.com also has some cool ideas for that kind of thing! Best of luck, can't wait to find out what you decide!

I can see how taking care of a lot of plants might be a huge problem. Have you thought about seed favors instead? Or the Audobon Society does a neat tree in a tube thing.

What kind of plant are we talking about? I mean a little seed packet, bulb, or something small would be fine. But, I live in a townhouse in the city so something big or a tree would be wasted on me. I couldn't put it anyplace.

Candy is always good. Everyone likes it or they can take home to their kids or grandkids. Plus the candy buffet sounds fun. (But I like plants and flowers so as lons as I could plant it at my house I would be fine with that too.)

I would personally go with candy. I love candy and I have a green thumb, but not everyone does. Plus, it's nice to get some use out of your favor, and people love candy generally.

I like the candy idea. I don't know if you are having out of town guests or not, but getting a plant back home might be difficult for out of towners.

I really liked the plant idea till someone pointed out about taking care of that many of them. not to mention delivering them to the site. so i would go with the candy idea.

we decided to go with a candy buffet! We saw it a while back on Regis and Kelly!! I fell in love with the idea!

We have four to choose from. Caramel hershey kisses, assorted mints white green pink, m&m peanuts and jolly ranchers.

If you have a lot of out of town guests, then do the candy buffet.

A plant sounds cool but I know so many people who don't have green thumbs like myself.

When I was going through a rough time my sister got me a catus for all of the prickley times in life.LOL

I would go for the candy. Like others said on here not all people are good with plants.

I was going to say the same thing!
I like plants and it is "original" but people that are comming in from out of town may have trouble getting it home @ all or getting it home "alive".
I personally love candy anyways and really like the buffet idea. Though, If you really want to do plants; you could always have pots w/ seeds in them.

There both great ideas. Cany is always awesome, but a plant you could really make your own with how you present it. I can honestly say that I've never been to a wedding with a plant as a favour.

I vote for the plant. Thats originally what I planned on doing. Potted plants, and painting the pots myself and then using them as centerpieces that people could take home. But since my reception site handles all the decorations we decided not to do that.

Both ideas are great but I have to say the candy buffet...if I ever went to wedding with one of these I'd be talking about it for ever (I have a serious sweet tooth).
There are so many options with the candy buffet where you can add personal touches from custom M&Ms to custom conversation hearts...it's a fun favor that includes all age groups.

I like the candy idea better. Personally I like the plant idea but I can see a lot of people not caring for/keeping the plant. I think the candy will be a bigger hit.
