I just wanted to show you guys where our wedding ceremony will be held. I added this picture to my journal as well, but I wanted to give you a sneak peak! This is in the back yard of my parents house. It used to be an old hog lot where we raised sows. It is about 1/6 of an acre and is now all seeded down with grass. The cement block is the start of a small grain bin that never was finished. The cement block is where my fiance and I will be standing. Of course, the old bailer will be moved come wedding time! I was thinking of draping white cloth over the cement and then sprinking red rose petals over that. Any more ideas? What about ideas for behind my fiance and I?? Thanks!

In my opinion if you were to put some flower arrangements at the two front corners you wouldn't need much else other then maybe an arch for you two to stand infront of. People's eyes will be on you and your FH and not on the cemment I'm sure. You'd need a big piece of material to cover that I would think. If you really want to though, I would use tule and white lites and intertwine the two.

kind of like what's on the arch behind us or around the table. That way you could still do your rose petals. ;)

I'm really liking the look of pillars topped with flower arrangements lately.

You can get small potted trees and ferns to fill out space from your florist or party supply rental place for very little money.

You could do something like this on the slab of concrete.

Thank you all for the great ideas! I have another question...do you think that if we don't put any type of design behind us, that the pictures will turn out crappy? I am just a little worried with the gaps inbetween the pine trees. I think probably that "less is more" in this situation, but I don't want to ruin the pictures because big streams of light will be showing through the pine trees.

What time of day will your wedding be at? Find yourself a subject model and head out to your spot at that time of the day and snap a few that will give you an idea. And try to do it in the same season as your wedding. For instance if you're getting married in the summer (with the sun) don't go during the winter and take photos but try to take them in the summer and see how they turn out. You follow me?? Good luck!

I don't think the gaps in the trees will be an issue, but I'd do a test run like Canadianbride suggested.

Thanks guys! I did kind of do a test run with pictures, but not with an actual person. The pictures I took were at the end of May and we are getting married June 9. The wedding is going to be at 3:29 pm (we started dating March 29th and we wanted to incorporate that into the wedding somehow!) so the sun should be about directly overhead. The trees are tall enough that we should be in the shade by that time of day. As for the guests, they will have to suffer a little bit. What do you think I should do for other decorations? Instead of a runner, I was thinking of having red and white rose petals (probably fake so they won't get real ugly by the time pictures are taken) strewn about down the aisle. My dad is an agriculture teacher, and he is going to grow some red flowers of my choice for one of his classes. That way, when school is over the week before my wedding, I can use the flowers he grew! I was thinking about buying cute pots and putting them somewhere, but I have no clue though as to where. I am open for any suggestions!

Here is a photo where I am standing on the block and looking backwards (towards where the guests will be seated). My dad has been wanting to build a smaller deck connecting to the one in the front of our house, and the wedding has prompted him to do it this summer. So there will be a deck on this side of the house.

You may not even need an aisle runner. I found some pics for you and I think they are beautiful without the runner. Is your reception going to be in the backyard too?

I think an arbor would be beautiful decorated in the red flowers:

This one is neat with the arbor at the beginning of the aisle and the end and it has a runner

I have heard and seen ( on TV not for real ) that runners on grass tends to be a pain. You sink into the runner as you walk. I like the idea of rose petals to line the aisle. Not to BE the aisle but along the sides to form the aisle.

bnd94: I love the first picture that you posted! that is what i was kind of thinking of doing for the runner. I was thinking of having some rose petals, maybe red and white) placed where a runner should be (just like in that first picture). The idea of the arch at the beginning of the aisle is kind of nice too. Something different...I kind of like it!

Rainbowtreat: I have also see on "funniest videos" on TV where little kids trip on the runners that are on grass. I think we will probably not do a cloth runner for that reason. Plus, our ring bearer and flower girl are both really young and I don't want them to trip as they walk.

We are having a carpet aisle runner. Some of the carpet places have extras and they'll sale them to you for cheap.
