I think real brides look much better than the models who are modeling their wedding dresses. Let's have some fun showing both pictures.

All I have are pics of the model. I'll have to wait a little bit since my dress is now too big. I wouldnt take a pic of me in it because it has a corset style top that zips closed so it would look funny. But again... I'll get my maid of honor, we'll clip and tuck and try to take a picture!

Thank you!! I hated the dress on the hanger and in the mag that I saw it but the minute they zipped me up, I knew it was the one!! :) So the bridal shop sent me off to have a drink with my mom and MOH and to decide. I didn't need the time to decide, I knew it was the one I wanted! :)

Awwww, thanks girls. Most fashion models are stick-thin so that isn't really a surprise to me, but I don't like the lighting in the model pic. The dress almost looks dingy and the beads on the bodice don't sparkle as much as they do in real life. The pic on the website doesn't "sell" the dress at all, IMO.

I tried that dress on and I agree that it is gorgeous. I also tried on the Justin Alexander version of it.

I saw the Justin Alexander version in a magazine add! That is what made me search for the tulle ballgown style! Then I found the sparkle bodice and it was a done deal.

Lacey, your dress is stunning, and it looks fantastic on you. At first I was a little torn between the tulle and the pintuck look. If I ever get to wear another ballgown the pintuck style will be what I get, maybe one in red.

I'm probably smaller than those "anorexic" looking brides. I only weigh just over 100 lbs. And I can't help it, I eat all the time and I eat the "bad foods" lol. I just don't gain weight. I tried a size 2 on of a wedding dress and it fit me just about perfectly.

The difference being what was posted about the "real" brides having a glow about them. I mean the model brides dont even look happy.
Theres nothing wrong with being small and petite (h3ll I wished I was), but 98% of women ARE NOT built that way. I just wish they would start using models sometimes that look more like the average woman. When just about every ad we see shows this skinny, perfect person, its no wonder that a lot of women have weight issues, eating disorders, and are severely depressed.
And this is no offence to you......sounds like you got good genes! I did for a long time, but not anymore.

Most definately! Here here! 90% of us don't look like those twigs, nor will we or should we ever want to!

I am just happy that I don't have a model pic to compare myself to.

Not only the thinness, Jessica, but they think it looks good to make the models look unhappy and miserable. I hate those types of pictures! I want a bride to look happy and joyous!! You're very fortunate to have a good metabolism that doesn't allow you to get fat. I wish I had that problem!! LOL!! :D

Right, I understand what you're saying. I actually have a magazine that has "bigger" women modeling wedding dresses or BM dresses. And I don't think that they are unhappy exactly, I mean the photographer wants a certain look too. But they have the smaller people for a reason, but yes they should have women of different sizes.

When you model, do the photographers actually want to you look miserable? I understand about the pouty, sexy look, but 90% of wedding models Ive seen, whether its hair styles, gowns, etc. theyre modeling, look totally and completely miserable and thats not the image I would expect to see to advertise something wedding related. JMHO
Im not being rude, I was just curious. Weve had comments a few times about the wedding models and how they pose, and youre the 1st "live" :) one Ive known about, so I thought I would ask you how it really is. Maybe it will help the rest of us understand.

So I went back to the very beginning of this thread and all I have to say is that all these designers need to use all of your wonderful dresses for their adds instead of the models. Everyone looks so beautiful and stunning!

When it comes to one wed vs. the models the one wed brides win out everytime!!
