Hi Ladies (and gentlemen!),
As you might know, I had my engagement party on Sunday. It was soooooo much fun! I'm really not sure how many people ended up coming, but it was probably pretty close to the 76 that said they would! I got a chance to meet another 30-40 of Anton's extended family and at least that many of his friends! We took the opportunity to get some family photos of the whole family (including me and the new baby - she's sooo cute!). Everyone was very nice and while there was alot of talk in Dutch, most people made a point to come talk to me at some point in English. His uncle Huub and aunt Corrie (hmmm.. not sure I'm spelling that right) are very interested in coming to the wedding and are looking forward to finding out the date to start planning. They have a son in California also so it gives them a perfect excuse for a visit! :D He also had a cousin mention that he wanted to look into a vacation to California that would coincide with our dates to, so it's looking like we might have some more of his family attending which would be GREAT in my opinion!
Anton's sister, Cathy had made him a secret santa present for christmas that ended up being the perfect card box! You can see it in a couple of the pics. We got SOOOOO many cards! I had been worried about people getting us gifts that would be difficult to bring home with us, but I didn't need to worry. Mostly we got cards with cash in them. (I'm still in shock by the generousity! We figured we'd get some, but this just floored us!) We got a few actual gifts all of which should be easy to bring home with us. His co-workers gave him 2 really nifty gifts! One was a minature car with the company logo on it (he works for a taxi company so it was made to resemble a taxi) and a plaque attached to the top that listed most of the people that participated in getting it for him. It just looks so cool! The other gift from his co-workers is my favorite though. They each took a page (or in some cases a couple) and scrapbooked something to him! Some people wrote huge long letters expressing their pleasure in working with him and recalling adventures. Some made elaborate scrapbooking pages with funny pics or memories or a saying. The whole thing just really had a heartfelt feel to it and it made most of us tear up to read the things written and the pictures included. I haven't gotten any of those scanned in the computer yet, so those pics will have to wait, but I absolutely loved the idea and the creativity and love that was put into that notebook!
Anyway, to end this wall of text, I had a blast and I'm so glad I got to meet so many people who have been a part of Anton's life and love him almost as much as I do! Without further ado, let me link 2 sets of pics to you! The 1st set is the prep work and there are only about 15-18 pics in that set... the 2nd one has pics from my camera and a neighbors camera and there are some 268!! I hope you enjoy!
