Hello,
I am getting married in a little over a month from now. It will be an outside wedding (at 1:00pm) and should be pretty casual. The bride's dress goes down to the floor but is pretty straight (not too poofy). The bridesmaids will all be wearing black cocktail length dresses (not all the same dress). I can't decide what I want myself (groom) and the groomsmen to wear. My bride thinks Tuxedos may be too formal. I suggested suits but none of my 4 groomsmen have black suits (one has a navy blue, one a dark grey, one a dark grey with pin stripes, and one has no suit). I feel bad asking them all to go buy a new suit. My next thought was khakis and some sort of dress shirt (maybe with a tie, I'm not sure). Maybe with a blazer? I really don't know. I don't want to look to casual at my own wedding. I think I would look good in a suit. Maybe the groomsmen could then wear shirt and ties. Would that look weird (them not wearing jackets?) ? I really need some help. I have no idea what to do. Any recommendations or pictures of any of these looks would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Welcome to OW!!

If it is more of a casual wedding I wouldn't go with the tuxedos either. I would still want my groomsmen to match. You could do black dress pants, colored shirt, and tie or khakis.

They still look dressy and the groom is wearing a suit.

I love the ideas above, all wear black (or dark grey) pants with dress shirts, and you in a suit. You can also just rent so not everyone needs to go out and buy a suit, but it will still probably cost around $100+ each.
Best of luck to you :)

My FH and I were planning to have him in a suit and his groomsmen in shirt+tie+nice slacks. I've seen alot of pics of weddings where this is done and I think the pics look great! I agree that I'd still want them matching and imo it's nice for the groom to stand out from the groomsmen just as it is for the bride to stand out from the bridesmaids.

I also very much like the pic posted above! :)

Thanks for all the positive input! You all are life savers. I think we will go with the groom (myself) in a suit with the groomsmen in black slacks + dress shirts + ties. I have a couple more questions if that's ok. Here is the color scheme. The brides bouquet is purple and white and the bridesmaids have yellow bouquets. My boutonnière will also be purple and white. Should the groomsmen still wear boutonnières even though they won't have jackets? I was also wondering if anyone had any suggestions for tie color. Obviously we could go with the black ties and that would look good. My bride suggested green but I'm not sure if that would be too many colors going on. I'd love to hear some of you alls suggestions! Thanks!

I was planning to have the groomsmen wear boutonnières even tho they aren't wearing a jacket. If you look at the pic above I think it looks great and gives them distinction of being part of the wedding party/immediate family ya know?

As for the colors, black would certainly be fine, but you could also match the bouquets by doing a purple tie for you and yellow for your groomsmen. We were planning to have the guys all in matching blue ties (including my FH), but then we only have 2 colors (or variants of 2 colors) so my bouquet is going to be blue and white and so will my bridesmaids (just different in size, flower type etc). As far as green goes... if you have flowers you have green by default so I wouldn't worry about it adding more then is already there. :) I guess the best question would be this: If you had YOUR choice of the colors mentioned, what would be your pick?

:yeah_that: If your bride wants green, your bride should get green! Green and purple would be cute together. A bright green would be nice... especially since it is outdoor. I was also thinking either purple or yellow for the ties. A dark purple would be nice since the bridesmaids are wearing black. Good luck with everything!

Because I'm the "matchy-matchy" type, my personal preference would be to put the groomsmen in black ties and with yellow boutonnieres to match the bridesmaids, but put the groom in a different color tie to set him apart. If the bride likes green, that would be great. I don't know what shade of green you were thinking, but I would leaning more toward like a silvery/sage green that might be occurring naturally in the greenery of her bouquet.

Why not try the wheat or other color slacks? the bridemaids have already dress black skirt, other colors will be bright :bbidea:. Blue jean+white shirt+ties I think is also good, :geek:just my personal idea~~ :luxlove:
