I call it a drinking fountain. I have never heard it called a bubbler! I googled it and it said it was "Wisconsin talk". Strange that we are so close but our terms for things are so different.

Haha!! I like the term bubbler! Maybe I will have to start using it... "Could you point me in the direction of the bubbler?" I would sound so sophisticated.

I've also never heard of the word bubbler (except, I think, in a Facebook group that someone joined). It is interesting that we use a lot of the same words in WI and MN, but that one is different.

I've always called it a drinking fountain or a water fountain. But I grew up mere minutes from Wisconsin, so I have had the misfortune of hearing someone say bubbler! ;) Just teasing. (While we're at it though, Jeanne, do youi call an ATM a time machine?)

It is a water fountain here in Texas. Just like a "Coke" can be any flavor soft drink-doesn't matter what kind it is, it is a coke.
I have family in WI so I knew what a bubbler was, but when my ex MIL told me one night that "the cat was on the davenport." I had no idea what she was talking about even when I saw the cat sleeping on the couch! :p

LOL! I call it an ATM machine, so do all my friends. Some older adults call it a time machine.

Hehe, I grew up hearing the word davenport. My grandma says it, and my friend's grandma says it, too. I always just assumed it was a word they used "back then."

Here a bubbler is the head on a sprinkler so could you imagine the looks I would get if I said I was thirsty and looking for a bubbler?

Here in schools we call them bubblers, so I don't think we'd call them anything else!!!
