I'm only half watching his public statement because DH watches ESPN religiously. But seriously, why is everyone, and by everyone I mean the media, so involved? This has nothing to do with golf. I just hate how public figures have to apologize to the world when they make mistakes. Not my business. Shouldn't be anyone else's.

I agree. We watched it (and have to hear all of the "breaking news" about it on our local news since we live about 10 mins from him or so) and he was very firm about the media staying away from his wife and children... I really hope they listen.
I thought he spoke very well and since he is probably a role model to some kids I'm glad he did it, but kids wouldn't have ever even known about if they would have just left him alone in the first place.

I believe its between him and his wife when he is a non famous person. By being famous, by getting endorsements and sponsorship from vendors and by the sheer fact of being a role model for kids all around US its not his private business anymore. Especially since its been widely discussed. I think his behaviour was disgusting and the least he could do is apologize. Although I don't know. He sounded to me like a robot reading the text not too heartfelt IMO.

I agree ... but he is in the public eye and some people look up to him, and his sponsors want the people they endorse and/or who endorse their products to have a clean image, so I guess I see that ... but yeah, personally I kind of just don't care.

Okay I am revising what I said earlier lol - I think that since it was put into the public eye it was good that he came out and said he was sorry. But I think that the media should have stayed out of it in the first place.
It was on when we were at lunch today and I was annoyed. I don't think it's any of my business and all I care about is him apoligizing to his wife and kids...not me. Every single person has some things in their life they've done that they're not proud of. His faults are pretty darn extreme, but I don't want my dirty laundry aired and I don't care for his to be either.

I have to agree. It isn't my place to judge, and I don't WANT to know about his private life. That's his and his families business to deal with. In some twisted way I feel a bit sorry for him that this has become such a media blitz.
I also don't agree with the ex-porn star (I don't recall her name) who hired Gloria Allred wanting a personal apology for him making her quit her job and for the spotlight.
Seems to me if you didn't want to be dragged into it, you woulda kept your mouth closed.

When the news first broke in the UK it was in all the papers. To the point where you couldn't escape it. It was as if nothing else was happening in the world. No wars, no famine, no floods, no earthquakes. No other news except some famous person who knocks a little ball of rubber bands around a field, and walks a bit.
Then it all died down for a month, and now this.
He is not the first famous person to cheat on his Wife. Nor will he be the last. But do we really need to hear every sordid detail as if OUR lives depend on it. So what if he had as many women as there are holes on a Golf Course. So what if they want to kiss n tell. I agree with the thread title.
Enough Already.
Anyhow. Golf is a waste of a good walk.

Ugh I am so annoyed with hearing about Tiger Woods. I totally agree that it should be between him and his family. It got way out of hand! It's now considered a joke. *sigh* That's just society I suppose. I'm glad he apologized in public (because now I guess it is public matters), but I hope it dies down soon.

I was sick of hearing about him BEFORE he cheated on his wife. LOL
I wish the news would actually report the news and not what stars were doing and cr@p. Leave that to the tabloids!
