Valentines Day = ER

Well I worked yesterday for a couple hours and around 6:30pm I started having horrible stomach pains. I thought I just needed to use the bathroom so I did but they didn't go away. I left work at 7:00 and went home to lay down. Well the pains didn't stop or even get better. FH was working so I called my mom in tears. She told me she would come down to take my to the ER but she lives a half an hour away. I told her I could wait but then decided I really couldn't wait so I went in myself. I told them how I was feeling and they took some blood and a urine sample. The doctor poked around on my stomach, which hurt like a son of a gun!! Finally I had to go back for a pelvic ultrasound. My bladder wasn't full enough so they did it vaginally :blink:. They said if they didn't find anything they would look at my appendix but once the nurse was done she didn't look at my appendix so I assumed it had to do with what she was just looking at.

I went back to my room and at that point my mom and my sister were there. The doctor came in a little while later and told me I had a hemorrhagic cyst on my right ovary. There is nothing they can do about it so I just have to live with the pain until it goes away. He said it could rupture but they still wouldn't do anything... unless there is internal bleeding.

Needless to say I am in quite a bit of pain. I think maybe I will spend the day on the couch with a heating pad!

Good gosh Casey! I'm sorry to hear you're hurting :( Did they prescribe you anything for pain at least???

Yep!! They prescribed me Vicadin!! :lafhard: Haha! I am a little hesitant to take pain meds though so maybe I will just stick to extra strength Tylenol.

If it's hurting as much as I think it is one Vicadin isn't going to hurt you. At least it will help you relax enough to sleep.

I think you are right! I will probably get it filled today and maybe take one so I can sleep tonight since I hardly got any last night.

Vicodin works different for everyone. It could knock you out, or it could wire you like a cat on catnip... The two times I've taken it it wired me so I don't like to take it. But, like Liz said, it wouldn't hurt to try for a little relief! Good luck!

Oh, that sucks! I'm sorry to hear it. When I was 17 I had a ruptured cyst on my right ovary and the pain was just incredible! They also told me that I'd just have to get over it, basically, because there was nothing they could do. Good news is that the pain subsided pretty quickly. I hope it does for you too!

I also think you should go ahead and try the Vicodin. It doesn't do anything for me, won't make me tired or wired or feel better, but like Justina said everyone responds differently and if it can help you feel better, it's worth it!

*hugs* I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I hope very much the pain goes away very quickly. For me vicaden put me to sleep within about an hour of taking it (I had it for a very bad ear infection that lasted over a week). I think testing it out is a good idea just to see if it will help you sleep. Best of luck sweetie!

Thanks ladies!! :hug: I am going to see if FH can drive me to the grocery store so I can get it filled. I have skipped all my classes today and I have been laying down with a heating pad the majority of the day. I am still not feeling any better though. I have a night class tonight that I really should go to but it is hard for me to walk without being hunched over so I might skip that one too. I think right now I need to focus on my health instead of school otherwise I will never feel better!

It was weird because since about Thursday I have had a slight cramp on my right side. It was very dull but constant and didn't think anything of it until last night. I am assuming it started last week and then last night started to hemorrhage? I have no idea but it sounds reasonable!

I'm so sorry i have lived with stomach problems and chest problems the past 3 years. They claimed my stomach pains were from cysts on my ovaries and chest pains were from stress but who knows. Either way they are not fun and i have been to the doctor, passed out in school from the pain, had the ambulance at the school plenty of times, and been rushed to the er numerous times. It's no fun and i wish they would figure out whats wrong.
