Ok, so my sister got me these invites for $5 a box (50 per box including envelopes and response cards), very hard deal to turn down. They are plain white 5.5 x 8.5 cardstock with two silver hearts (sort of like this actually :hearts: )at the top and a thin silver boarder. They are cute, but a little boring so I was wondering if you clever ladies (and gentlemen?) have any ideas how to jazz these up a little bit? I think I am going to do envelope liners. Any suggestions would be much appreciated
thanks!

I agree with Gwen and Kylee, I think they are great as is. But, if you were looking for something different, have you tried playing with different fonts/colors?

ya, I guess once I get writing on them they won't look so plain...
will it look silly with a pink envelope liner?

i think a colored liner would be really pretty and if they're silver you could use ANY color you wanted...
the only think i could think of to add to dress em up would be to paste them onto a colored backing sheet that's just a smidge bigger so it shows... but then this will increase the size and you may need bigger envelopes...

Combination typestyles are one of the easiest ways to really make a punch on your invitations. Try using a block font for the wording and a really pretty script for your names, or vice versa. Also, try making your names larger to draw attention to them.
I've seen multiple ink colors used, but I think that looks best when there is little color on the invites. I guess if yours will be silver instead of the gold in your picture, that probably would be fine.
Pink envelope liners would be nice, if that's one of your wedding colors.
Hope you'll share your final decision with us!

I agree with everyone else, I think they're pretty as it but if you wanted to dress it up a little that the font and ink color would be a really great way to do it!

How about attaching a piece of vellum over the top with some ribbon? You could have a monogram printed on the vellum and then when they lift it up you would have your information printed on the invitation.

Thanks so much for all your input. I think your guys are right, pretty fonts will probably do the trick... They just look like a lot of white right now, but once I get the writing on them they'll look just fine. Tnx again

I'm sure they will be fine, but if you are still looking - you could glue a small pink rhinestone right in the middle where the two hearts intersect. It will add a little bit of sparkle, but won't be too overstated. Good luck!

I agree with what the other ladies are saying with the font colors and sizes.
I was also thinking of adding ribbon to the top somehow but that may be too much.

you could do a cute stick on the envelope. Staples had stickers that said "Save the date" and "love" and a lot of other ones too. thats inexpensive and just a small touch.and you can think of adding a bow.

you could also tie a ribbon around them
http://www.finestationery.com/product.cfm?prod_id=78588&cm_thisCategory=2&cat=2&cat_id=2&subcat_id=15
(this isnt the same invite just one my work sells but it shows the general idea)
2 different font styles also work like a few of the other ladies said, they turn out beautifuly :yesnod:... or the rinestone is a good idea, the vellum would also be good you could punch two holes about 1/2 inch apart just below the hearts and form a bow like this..(really easy to do)
http://www.finestationery.com/product.cfm?prod_id=74668&cm_thisCategory=2&cat=2&cat_id=2&subcat_id=15
and you would have the vellum smaller than the card... like this

sorry to use a ton of examples from my work but hope that helps!:lafhard:

I will be honest; I had bought Save The Date cards that looked exactly like your invites and they were horrible. They, too, were silver with the hearts and lined around the edges. The design got SO lost after I was done putting words on that I felt like I should of just used normal paper since the design wasn't popping. We ended up changing the dates and I ended up printing new Save The Dates off my printer in a new way on card stock.
Print up a few different invites and see how your design holds out; I know I had looked at the same exact invites and after knowing how they worked out before I said "no way!" because I could not think of how in the world to dress them up and make them stand out. I even considered coloring in the hearts at the top, lol!
Post pictures when you are done, I'm curious to see how yours turn out and what you did with them. The design IS pretty; I just feel it gets lost easy.

I was gunna say vellum paper too. You could also use a hole punch and tie a ribbon through it, similar to the top suggestion.
You could also put a stamp on the bottom corners. You know like scroll work or something.

when i did my invitations i ordered them professional but felt they needed to be jazzed up- i order lace for like two bucks (rolls of elastic ivory lacy about an inch thick) and cut pieces and sewed them into bands. I think this would look really nice if you have a dark color like blue or red etc to use a dark lace color and add it. you can put it over the writing and people can just remove it..or you can use it to tuck everything together inside like the response card etc. Then if you want, you can add a colored crystal or something to the heart - my mom did this to my bridal shower invites- she bougt them at joanns buy one get one sale- for 80 invites she bought like 8 packages and paid for 4 - :) just a word of advice. i ordered WAYYYYYYY too much lace.. so make sure u measure if you do something like that - and i ordered it online because it was cheaper
