So I bought a dress while shopping with my mom and i wasn't in love with the dress but i bought it anyway. And so I took a picture to my grandmother up at the nursing home she has alzheimers, and she was in a good state of mind that day but when i showed her she crinkled up her nose and told me that it was the ugliest dress she had ever seen...and then remembered that she had money and i needed to go and buy a new dress no matter what the cost was. So we went shopping and went to a few bridal shops. and my cousin/maid of honor talked me into going to davids bridals and i had already had a bad expeirience with them so we went to another location and we happened to be there on a good day with only 3 other customers in the store. and i tried on so many dress and then i found the one. and it wasnt one that i would have chosen for myself but my cousin talked me into trying it on. So here it is. And I'm so in love with it. sorry hair and no make up though i had to sneak pictures in a hurry while f.h was in class. but here is my question should i get it altered a bit shorter or try a trumpet/mermaid petticoat with it?

That is a beautiful dress! I would definitely get it altered a little shorter... the last thing you want to worry about on your wedding day is potentially tripping over the extra length in your dress or stumbling when dancing over it... Much better to just get it done and be worry free to me! I'm a short gal and ordered my dress with a petite cut, but my seamstress still recommended shortening it by another 3/4". I was very glad to not have to worry about it the day of!

I would definitely get it altered as well. I think if you wanted to put something over it, then go for it! I am sure it will look great! That is very beautiful!:hearts:

Love the dress!! It's actually the dress my Mom wore to her wedding (which I am wearing for MY wedding as well!!) this past September!!

If you do add the mermaid petticoat please take pictures because I'd love to see what it looks like!! I thought of doing that myself!!

Since i already bought the dress i don't think they will have problems with me taking pictures with the petticoat underneath. I never saw myself in a strapless dress of any kind but i'm glad i did.

It's so pretty and modern looking, and you look lovely in it! But I agree that you do need alterations. If it's just the hem, it won't be too expensive!

I like your dress, it looks great! I do think you could shorten it, ask the seamstress when you are at the appt. I'm sure they will have peticoats at the shop for you to try.

I tried on my dress today with a fit/flare petticoat and it was great it just poofed out the bottom of the dress a little not much. and the lady sold the same dress to 3 other ladies today with the same petticoat underneath. and with the petticoat and new flip flops it is perfect and no alterations needed. And the petticoat makes the train lay perfectly. I will try to post some pictures of it soon.
