Well I am another one from UW..im so glad to have found OneWed! I had just started to make my journal so I didnt really lose to much..and hopefully I will be able to get a lot of input from all those wonderful brides out there :bbwink:

A little about us
Well me and my fiance are both from Louisiana, born and raised. I am 23 yrs old, just finished nursing school and work as a LPN on the medical floor at a local hospital. Ricky is also 23 and works at a glass company, installing windows in cars, houses, shower doors..anything to do with glass! He likes is job, but is thinking about going to college, just not sure what for, no rish though! As long as he is happpy.

How We Met
We met when we were both 15 yrs old old...(8 yrs ago!!) Through my best friend Magen, at the movies I wasnt really the type of girl to get all dressed up at the point in my life, i didnt mind not having a boyfriend, i was having fun with my friends, anyways Ricky told Magen he thought i was cute and so on all the highschool stuff haha..and wanted to know if he could have my #, Magen asked me and I said yes..he called me and we talked for about a month..then for my sweet 16th b-day i had a party and he came and i got my first kiss :bbredface:. We have been dating ever since then...Im not gonna lie an say we had the perfect relationship because we certaintly did not..we borke alot, got back together, we were even engaged my first year in college and broke it off and broke up..we both dated a few other people, but always felt like we were missing something, and finally realized we just couldnt live without each other, and there was no one better for us then the other :) :D

The Propsal
Well my engagement wasnt all romantic (it was to me) but as far getting roses or being brought anywhere...anyway..here is the story :)
In Dec 2005 I was at the end of my nursing program..I ha dbeen metioning how nice it would be to get a ring for graduation present or Christmas haha, ricky said he wanted to wait at least another year to make sure he was finacially stable and all the stuff, of course i was sad but i could understand that..after my graduation me and ricky and 2 of our friends were going to go to New orleans to see the Christmas lights and spend the night in a hotel (i found out later that is where he was going to propose), but it was closed when we wanted to go so we were going to go after christmas...anyways one day i was at rickys house studying for my fianls and ricky kept asking me if i wasnted my graduation present (he has NOOOO patience, lol) and i was like yeah! and then no, i wanna wait..but he couldnt wait so he walked out of the room and came back in and was acting a little funny but i didnt think anything of it i just figured he was excited about giving me my present cause he usually loves them just as much as me...so he handed me a box, i saw it was from a jewlery store but i thought it was going to be earrings cause we had went look as some 2 weeks before and i told him thats what i wanted..anyways i opened the box and was in shock he wrapped his arms around me and asked me if I would marry him..I dont think i eve answered him cause i was so happy and i was crying lol, but he knew what my answer was!! :)

We are having out ceremony and reception there..we have it for 6 hours. I've always wanted to get married outside and they have a little gazebo that we can use and if it "rains" :bbmad: we can get married inside. She takes care of the tables, linens and decoration, including flowers! She also cateters, so that is taken care of too!

Lacey-yeah i know its a big party, but so far so good with them as far as them getting along! haha, actually i will be pretty suprised if i any problems with them at all b/c im really close to all of them..and they all want to plan everything so i feel like im not even doing anything b/c they are doing it for me half of the time! lol

karen-im from new iberia which is 2 hrs from new orleans, but i love new orleans too! :)

last week I went talk to the man that i would like to marry us...and he said yes! I was so excited i forgot to ask him how much he would charge us lol..anyways he was my jr high high math teacher and my highschool spanish teacher..and he is also a associate pastor at my church, so i asked him b/c i feel closer to him..we have to go through marriage counseling which will start in jan, so hopefully he doesnt tell us we cant get married! haha j/k..he said he is just going to help us communicate better and learn how to deal with out finacial responsibilites.

I went look at wedding cakes yesterday with one of my BM and I think i've found it! It will be about 327..the includes delivery, cake stand, and a little cake for our 1 yr anniversary. its going to be 3 pieces..white and it has dots ( i cant think of a better description, lol) all over and at the bottom of each piece, its will have a pink ribbon. I also found the gooms cake its a pool table , with the balls and sticks on it, for $60 its cute, she told me she is going to a cake convention this week and she would try and find some cakes with guns or something like that b/c FH LOVES guns, but if not i know he would like the pool table. I just have to wait till my mom comes home tom to see if thats an ok price for the cake, which im sure she will b/c thats the cheapest i've found. OHHH and each layer will have a different layer filling..havent decided what yet, but it will be like a dobarage (sp) cake! Yum!!

Well the photographer I wanted is booked on my wedding day :(...thats my fault though for waiting so long to call..so now i have to search for another one, I have one in mind but every time i go to his studio hes not there..so wish me luck in finding one! Ricky also tried calling the guys for Dj (he knows them) but they didnt answer so hopefully they will call him back soon so we can know if we need to start looking for that too..I do have good news though haha nothing wedding related though..i went shopping yesterday and i found 3 really cute bathing suits for my cruise in sept. Im so excited! :)

I've been thinking about what flowers im going to use and i think im going to go with calla lilies..this does seem to be a popular flower right now, but i've always like lilies and calla lilies just seem more elegant for a weeding...

Ricky talked to the Dj yesterday and he said he charges $250 for 4 hours and if u want them longer then that you just pay by the hour (not sure how much, but i dint think its to much) hHe just has to check and make sure our date is open! He should be calling back sometime today..Tomorrow I have appt. with another cake person and thurs we are going meet with a photographer! Yeah! I finally fell like Im doing something! I also picked out a few invitations that I like and requested some samples so those should be coming soon and i can get them picked out!

Righ t now this is probably the cake im going with..i saw this on a thread and loved it, and i went to one cake shop and she had a pic of it too, and thats the cake that i got her to estimate for me! I will probably change the flowers on the cake though.

ok well the cake i posted a pic of is not the cake im going with and my cake looks nothing like that haha..i took a bunch of different pics of cakes and put them all together, taking out little things that i liked from each and made my own cake! Its going to look great! Im so excited. It is pretty expensive, but they threw in the grooms cake for free, and I know these people so i know it will be worth the money. Just to kinda describe it, its going to be a 3 tier cake with 3inch columns in b/t each tier and each layer will have a different print on it..on the middle cake jLr (our monogram) will be on the cake. And in each section of the cake they put 2 fillings, so it will kinda be like a doberage (sp) cake. Yum! haha. For our topper we will have 2 doves they they handmake out of icing. And for Rickys cake im doing a pool table, it has the balls, the stick and the chalk thing..all made out of icing and she said you can actually play it!

Well we booked out photographer today! http://www.scottabreaux.com We got the biggest package which comes with engagement session, bridal session. 50-4x6, 10-5x7, 8-8x10, a cd-rom with all our pictures, five hours of coverage, and wedding set with 20 pictures for each of our parents. This was also a little expensive and a little over our budget, but i really liked him and i love pictures, so i dont mind spending more on something that we will have forever.

well i havent been on here in quite sometime...ive been working alot, which is good in a way, but im starting to get stressed out b/c i feel like im getting nothing done..which really i dont have much left, except like the most important thing..MY DRESS!!! Sun im leaving to go a cruise with 2 of my friends! So after I get back, it will be all business, i have to get on the ball! I did talk to all my girls walking and showed them there dresses and they all love them so im excited about that..we also added another girl..Rickys cousin Tiffany, i needed another girl to walk b/c one of my friends sisters wedding is in the same month and she couldnt be in both, but im glad i asked tiffany cause she is really excited, she told me she had been hoping since she heard me and ricky were engaged that i would ask her, because her and ricky were so close. So the things i have left to do are get my dress, order the invitations (which i have picked out), go see a florist, order the bm dresses, get the flower girl baskets and pillow for the ringbearer and guestbook and all that other little stuff.
