Okay - So my wedding date is August 28th, 2010 and I feel like I am really behind. I have my ceremony venue and my reception venue booked and the deposit put down. I have my dress and the BM dresses picked out. 4/5 bridesmaids have ordered their dress. The DJ is booked and so is the photographer. That's about it though.
FH is friends with some girls on Facebook who are getting married next year also. One is getting married in October and she has like everything done! (She updates her status about everything!) She's met with the florist, ordered her invites, got her engagement pictures done. After seeing how far ahead those girls are I feel totally behind. Honestly, I don't really know what more I can do at this point.
I suppose I could work on invites but I don't even have the times set yet. Save the Dates are going to come after we get our engagement pictures done which I suppose we could do soon. I should just stay off of their facebooks. :frantic:

deep breath! i had many moments like that... the only thing i have done that you don't is my invites n STDs LOL
i'm meeting w/florists hopefully next weekend... i don't have my limo booked (tho my mom is theoretically working on that) and i'm just starting to order the supplies to make my centerpieces...
oh n i just got my engagement photos done at the end of october LOL
there is no "behind" so long as it gets done in the end ;)

:whew: That makes me feel better! I don't know how they are so on top of things! I bet they don't spend hours on OW and instead are working on their wedding! Haha
I just feel like I have tons of other things to do right now instead of wedding planning! I think I have the most important things out of the way and once we are done moving I will start working on the others.
When did u send out your STDs, Nicole?

You are SO fine! You've got so much time. I wasn't even technically engaged yet with nearly 9 months to go and I got everything done with time to spare. It'll be ALL good! :lafhard:

You're definitely doing good, I'd say. At 6 months out, we finally booked our reception place. It was also at least a month after that before we met with a florist and a DJ. We got very lucky to find awesome vendors that were still available. (We found that the inexpensive, not as widely known vendors were the best.) But anyway, I think you have a lot done. I think it's just stressful no matter where you are in planning because it's such a big event.

Well I didn't think I was behind until I saw these other girls planning like crazy!! Maybe they just have a lot of time on their hands.
I am glad to hear that I am on the same track as everyone else!

I know a woman who planned a wedding in 17 days and a couple of friends of mine did it in 30.
I was at the wedding of the latter, and it was beautiful. You are ahead of the game :)

Oh you are so fine! Those wedding timelines in books etc were so off for me. I had 14 months to plan our wedding. In the beginning we set the date, booked the minister, photographer and venues....and then I basically did nothing but look at ideas and buy things that were on sale and I did up the save the dates to mail with Christmas cards at Vistaprint. December came, stds were mailed, I purchased my dress and again that it for awhile other then looking at ideas and such...March came and the girls picked out their dresses and we got them ordered....then once June hit I was full speed ahead - invites, booking the florist etc....I say the ones like on your facebooks have nothing else to do in their spare time or they had a lot of it done prior to getting engaged.
Good luck!

hehe yeah if I went by those timelines I would be HUGELY stressing... but every time I do, I have to take a step back and a deep breath and realize that everything will come together. I can't even set a date yet! (/me crosses her fingers that the visa comes through soon)
You have plenty of time.... just take one thing at a time and before you know it, you'll be almost done! :)

Haha! I do think they much have a lot of time on their hands! You pretty much described what I have do so far. I got the important things done and when the time is right I will do what I need to do. I know I will get it done on time... I just don't understand why they have so much done!!
There is a wedding expo in my hometown on January 10th and my sister is going to go with me! Maybe I will be able to get some more ideas from that and win some good prizes. :crossfingers:

Don't forget Khloe Kardashian did in like a week!! ;)
No worries, girl! I booked my venue about a year out and everything else happened very gradually. It seems to me like you have gotten a good bit done!

Okay I am not worrying much anymore but I just saw something weird on Facebook. This girl is getting married on Oct. 23rd, 2010 and someone wrote on her wall on Dec. 16th saying that she got her Save The Date a while ago. She already sent her STDs?! Why so early? I don't plan on sending mine for at least another month.

That does seem early. I would be afraid people would toss them or that the date could change or something... who knows... She prob just has the anxious wedding jitters! I know I do! I want to do everything right now! lol

i sent my STDs late september sooo like 8 months... and i thought THAT was early.... typically u wanna send em around 6 months before... more if you hvae a lot of guests that are going to be traveling (which i do) just to give em the heads up...
plus i'm getting married around a time where a lot of ppl we know go on vacations... so i didnt want to hear "oh if i had ONLY known back in X, i wouldn't have booked this trip!"

This is exactly what I did. They also went out 8 months before the wedding, and I too heard that they should be 6 months before the wedding. I did it for 2 reasons. One, I hand delivered as many as possible, just to save on postage. So it was easiest to do it at Christmas time, when I would see more of my family. But the main reason was because our wedding is Labor Day weekend. This gives people a heads up and they can plan accordingly....IF they want to come. :)

I plan to send mine out around 8-9mos. (if he gives me the ring in time....yes I am getting impatient). I am sending them that earlier because we are having the wedding in NC and my family is in OH and his in NY so they would need to have time to make travel arrangements.

I wouldn't be worried that your friend sent out her STD's 10 months in advance. It is a bit on the earlier side, but STD's can never get sent out too early for the guests in my opinion... it would allow for guests to reserve PTO from work or make plans accordingly. As a bride though, I think a lot could happen in 10 months... budget contraints, date changes, etc. I would be mortified if I couldn't end up sending invitations out to everyone I sent STD's to!
That being said, I didn't do STD's. Everyone that was invited to the wedding knew about our wedding date when we set it shortly after we got engaged, which was nine months in advance, and planned accordingly.

Yeah. I figure that most people know when our wedding date is so I am not too worried. Most of my family is fairly close to the area we are getting married in and Steve's family isn't too far away. I will probably get mine sent out in Feb/March.

A girl I work with planned her wedding in about 3 months. It was a huge elaborate 500 person wedding too. The pictures were gorgeous. :yesnod:
