I read somewhere that ppl over 30 can't hear this sound, but younger ppl can. So some ppl have used it to try to keep teens from loitering ... while some teens are using it as a ring tone on their cell phone so teachers and parents can't hear it.
I can't hear it, can you? - http://www.jetcityorange.com/toys/17KHz.wav

Yes, I can hear it and it is awful! It is worse than nails on a chalk board. I hope it didn't hurt my hearing!

At first it was like my ears were ringing then all the sudden they needed to "pop".

As sson as I started it I could feel soemthing maybe like cindy said some pressure or soemthing and I heard a little tiny click noise once or twice. My 5 yr was sitting next to me and said to me " did you hear that sound mumma , it hurst my ears". My 16 yr old brother couldnt hear it either and he put his ear right next to the speaker.

I heard a slight ring in my ear but I didn't associate it with the tone. DH said he heard a slight humming sound but that was it. I sort of wanted to hear it ;) I wonder what the deal is, why some ppl can hear it and others not. *weird*

I seriously believe men don't hear much of anything when they are seated in front of the tv!!

Ok, I heard absolutly nothing! No, prushing, no anything. I even cranked the volume up a few times cause I thought maybe Steve turned it down. I have excellent hearing I'm told so that surprised me. HMMM, now I'm confused
ETA I played it for Steve and he was goign on about the high pitched sound and how he thought his ears were going to bleed. I still heard NOTHING!!!! No click no pressure. I"m confused. BTW, I'm 24 and he is almost 27. I'm so confused!

I didn't hear it on here, but people have played it before and I was "lucky" enough to hear it then. It is super annoying.

No one in my house could hear it... even the 24 year old. Weird how some hear it and others don't though.

I could hear it clearly, but it wasn't annoying to me. The dog looked at me funny, so I guess he heard it, too.
