Hello all!
Since this is an introduction, I guess I'll just throw out some stuff about me: 20 years old, a junior in college, and engaged as of a couple nights ago. My husband-to-be is also a junior. We've been dating for a little over 3 years now, so we're the high school sweethearts who made it (even we're a little surprised about that, I think). We go to different schools, which is tough, but we've powered through it with honesty and trust.
For various reasons, we want to be graduated before we actually get married, so The Day is going to be quite some time from now - but I'm still looking forward to getting to know people here and sifting through all the valuable info. I went to the Wedding Planning section of Borders today, and it was a little overwhelming for me! This site seems more accessible :yesnod:

MrsNickToBe, we keep wavering back and forth. Originally we were thinking spring 2010, because it'd give us a full year after graduation to plan, and because we like the metaphorical "life beginning anew" aspect of spring. But I have terrible grass/tree allergies, so spring might not be ideal. Our other idea is late summer/early fall 2011. It looks like you already have a general time picked out - how did you decide?
Thanks for the warm welcome guys :)

ya Spring would be awful for the allergy aspect! But maybe you could take that medicine stuff to hold them back?
Well, I have always wanted September, i love the end of summer early fall thing. It's what I have always dreamed of since I met my FDH, well when I brought up sept 2010, he said that wasn't enough time for us to save for an AMAZING honeymoon, plus we're self employed so we have a lot of loose ends to tie up. We also weren't in a hurry for the wedding, we wanted to enjoy the engagement as well. So we decided that a year and half wasn't too bad and it came down to July 30th,2011. Well then I was thinking and it's going to be super sticky nasty (we're having an outdoor wedding/reception), so I am going to talk to him about shooting for September 3rd 11. It will be one of the two.
The best thing to do would be to talk to him and find out what he really wants out of the wedding, how he pictures it, and find a time that would be best for making that happen :)

Congrats and welcome!
I am also 20 and engaged. I'm a junior/senior because I am graduating Dec 2010. I could graduate this Summer, but I plan on Grad School and I'm not ready yet!
So I am going to graduate in December, put the final details of our wedding together Late Dec-Early April and get married April 16th, 2011!
I am so excited. If you ever need advice or anything from a fellow young, student bride... feel free to PM me!
Again, CONGRATS! :confetti:

Welcome!! Planning is fun when you do it well in advance. As far as a date, what are the nicest seasons where you live?

MrsNickToBe, I actually take allergy medication already. Two different kinds, every day - I'm an allergy wreck! It really sucks, my dad had allergies when he was younger but they lessened and eventually died out entirely as he aged, so I was hoping that would happen for me too. No such luck so far. Anyway, I think it's sweet that you knew exactly what season you wanted from the start. :yesnod:
Invitations4LessJoyce, I'd say the most stunning season visually where I live is fall. On the other hand, it does get a bit brisk early in the year sometimes and I can be a wimp when it comes to the cold. Not helpful, I know!
And I'm ecstatic to hear from other young/student brides. I feel like you hear so often about how young couples won't make it, so it's nice to hear about those who did.
Thanks again for the hospitality, everybody!
