After receiving a whole bunch of different Christmas cards in the mail yesterday, I'm curious to know, what kinds of cards do you send out, if any at all??

I forgot to add a poll, can sombody add one for me?

Simple standard card and write something inside
Standard card where you can insert a picture on the front cover
Pre-printed ones through a photo center
Other
None

I used to send out Christmas cards every year, but I stopped 2 years ago because I rarely got any back! I felt like it was a lot of work anyway, so it's for the best probably.

When I did it I would send funny cards. :lafhard:

We usually send out something with a standard "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" message and then sign it.

I get the Christmas type paper and find a poem or something that seems significant to the message I want and print it out on my computer.

This year I think my theme is going to be about hope. I hope to have it done by Saturday and mailed out.

It changes year to year, but this year we got a set of regular basic Christmas cards from Target that we thought were cute and then we put a printed picture inside that said Merry Christmas on it.

We don't send any. I wanted to send some this year, but it was too late by the time I got around to do it. Maybe next year ...

It varies from year to year. Sometimes I'll send out a regular card or sometimes I'll send nothing. I voted for pre-printed though because from now on, that's what I will be doing.

I wasn't going to send any out this year but the other night after getting bit by the Christmas Cheer Bug, I decided I wanted to send out cards. So I uploaded a fave pic from our wedding and made a card on walgreens photo center and it says "Merry Christmas from the new Mr. & Mrs." and I will be sending them out today.

Last year it was a photocard. This year, to save money, we went with the preprinted cards and then I had 50 free 4x6 photos to use of one of the printing sites so I printed out pictures of my son to put in the cards. Next year I am not sure what I'm going to do. I'm getting tired of sending out 50+ cards and only getting maybe 20 back.

I haven't sent out Christmas cards since I lived with my dad. I think the tradition is dying because like Gwen, I very rarely receive them. I remember when I was younger we would get cards in the mail every day for weeks and I would hang them all up. But now even my dad might get like 4. It's kind of sad.

I think that if I were to send out cards I would do photo ones. Those are the ones I enjoy receiving the most. It seems like no one around here does that unless they have kids though. I guess I could send some out with my dogs' pictures on them, haha! :lafhard:

We only send "Special" Cards.

Ones for close friends across the miles. (My SS got a card, friends in Australia got one)
Cards for our Daughters, Grandson and one of DH's Brothers. (We don't see or hear from the other one)
One for a very good friend who i see every week.
And one with "Mummy" on for the Lady who gave me away at our Wedding.

Other than that we don't bother.

Friends and family have either passed away, left the radar or fallen out with us years ago. :bbconfused:

Pretty sad when i see it all typed up like this. :bbconfused:

We send out about 60 cards to family. Nearly each one has a 8x10 family letter in it with a recap of the year's events. So, the card is somewhat basic but it as a large family tradition. Nearly every night we sit down and read full page letters from the 8 brothers and sisters and so many of the aunts and others.

It is really cool. Almost like getting a small gift.

I usually find an inspirational standard one and send it out with a little blessing printed inside on a label with my signature and that of my staff.

This year I hand made 60 cards. I did cheat and use the computer for the saying inside.

We usually don't send Christmas cards. I talk about it every year, but it never happens. Maybe next year? That' what I always tell myself! If I had an organized list of addresses then I would send them, for sure. I just don't feel like getting all of the addresses together.

I make cards with watercolors/colored paper and then write a short, personalized note. I don't do this for a lot of people, mostly people that I like and don't get to see very often.

It looks like I'll be doing it Russian style and making them New Year's Cards though, since I'm so far behind.

We try to send something out every year. We get enough from other people it makes me feel bad I didn't wish them a Merry Christmas.

Last year we did a photo card and we loved it. Money is tight this year so it was just a nice card. Next year though, we have high hopes!

I usually commit to cards on one of my other forums and I get so busy for Christmas that I don't send them out until afterwards - and by that time I end up sending "Happy New Years" Cards that I get the day after Christmas at Walmart for 50% off.

This year, I am probably going to do that.

I gotta get an address book and fill it up. I have no organization when it comes to addresses

We didn't do cards this year. I had planned on doing something this year, but since we'll be doing moving announcements in time for new year's, that will be our card for the year! I really like the pre-printed photo cards so that's what I want us to do from now on!

We usually buy a pretty card and write personal notes inside...this year I am going to do a e-newsletter instead of Christmas cards and send it out for New Years. I decided to do it that way so we can update everyone on all our moves/new jobs/ etc, and also announce that we're pregnant (shhhh!!) and include a bunch of pictures from all of our adventures this year. ;)
