What does everyone have for family holiday dinners?
We usually do Turkey for Thanksgiving and either Ham or Cornish Game Hens w/grape sauce for Christmas.

We don't have a tradition for dinner. This year we are going to have Prime Rib.

In the past we have done turkey and ham with mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, mac n cheese and all ... but this year we are just having a bunch of appetizers; chicken fingers, meat balls, etc.
This year for Christmas we are doing prime rib, mashed potatoes and I am not sure what else...usually its the whole Thanksgiving scene all over again and this year we wanted to try something different.
We usually do the works with my family for Thanksgiving: Turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, candied yams, salad, rolls, and appetizers and desserts.
Christmas with my family is usually simple - sandwiches!
Christmas with Matt's family is the works - usually a potluck and everyone brings a favorite dish - DELISH!

At DH's Grandparent's house, we do ham and all the traditional sides, potatoes, rolls, beans, etc.
For my family, we have a tradition where we do a different nationality every year. One year we did Italian, last year we did German and this year is Mexican! We all have fun with it!

My mom does the whole Thanksgiving meal every year for Christmas.
But...we're not going to be there this year - I asked DH what his family did for Christmas and he said "Eat and open presents..." So I asked what they eat and he said it's something different every year, but that this year his sister was thinking of making tamales.
Tamales?
I'm a little worried about this actually. I'm pretty strict about the things I do and don't eat, and despite the number of times his family has been reminded of this they always seem to make the stuff I don't eat. So I'm pretty sure his sister is going to make some sort of beef tamale and I'm going to eat the cereal bar I keep in my purse.
Merry Christmas to me!
I'll let you all know...

We do the traditional Thanksgiving meal: Potatoes, turkey, cranberries, green beans, pumpkin pie...
For Christmas we do appitizers: Beanie Weenies, spinach dip, seafood dip, and other delicious foods!!
FH's family does the more traditional Christmas foods with the ham and whatnot.

Normally on christmas the kids are so busy that they don't worry about dinner. So usually I just make a ham, mashed potatoes w/gravy,cranberry sause, pie, rolls & a veggie.
But my 3 oldest kids are leaving with their father on christmas afternoon.Last year I did x-mas dinner on x-mas eve.And then on x-mas day FH,I and the baby just ate leftovers.

For Christmas Eve, DH's family always makes a bunch of appetizers like motzarella sticks and pizza rolls. For Christmas, my mom usually makes something like ham or turkey. I'm not sure what we'll have this year; we're going to my grandparents house instead of my parents' house.

I usually have 3 meals between Christmas eve and day. They are all Thanksgiving types though. So good. However, we usually do ham instead of turkey... goes for Thanksgiving too.

Thanksgiving is pretty traditional across the board. For christmas eve my family tradition was always to have pizza but since we are hosting the big thing for DH's family he vetoed that and we are doing taco soup, chicken tortilla soup, and nachos.I guess I'll have to have my pizza for lunch! For christmas dinner my extended family usually does a roast or some other kind of beef. DH's extended family does a turkey potluck. I'm not sure what my step-mom is planning for lunch but I am guessing turkey. My personal preference is for a big breakfast/brunch as the main meal!

We host Christmas Eve dinner, and usually have Beef Tenderloin. I don't eat pork or seafood, my dad doesn't eat turkey. Leaves few things for me to make!
My parents have Christmas dinner and it's ham and pasta (generally homemade ravioli).
I can't wait for the tenderloin. It's so expensive, but soooo worth it. I spent more on the meat than my parents' gifts combined. lol

Thanksgiving is just the usual stuff, turkey and ham and mashed potatoes and green beans and rolls that type of stuff.
Christmas Eve we always have soup at my parents house with my aunt and uncle and their two kids. We always have Cheeseburger Soup and my aunt usually brings a lighter soup like Tortellini or Veggie soup. Then we all go to a Christmas Eve Church service and then come back and do a few presents and have some snacks like cheese ball and chips and crackers and a few warm things too... and more soup ;) That's what we have done for at least 5-6 years now.
Christmas morning mom always makes hash brown casserole - not really a typical holiday food but it is to me because she only makes it on Christmas morning. Christmas afternoon we are always at Matt's parents house and it varies there... They don't really keep up with traditions unlike my side of the family.

We do the typical Thanksgiving fare for that holiday, but Christmas has some funny traditions. We usually have a big Christmas breakfast...of pumpkin pie and breakfast sausages. Yup that's right! It is one of the most unbeleivable combinations, but that's what we've had for as long as I can remember! Christmas dinner is usually Cornish game hens, but this year we are doing a standing rib roast for Christmas Eve dinner, and we'll have sandwiches with the leftovers for Christmas dinner.

My mom usually makes a turkey for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, so the dinners are pretty typical. But from Christmas breakfast its usually a hash brown casserole and sticky buns. Mmmm!
