I am LMAO. We have a winter storm advisory in effect here in Sacramento. It's supposed to snow 1-3" within the next day or so. Yes, 1-3 INCHES. And everyone's freaking out! Businesses are opening late "due to weather"

Only in Cali will you see people freaking out over 1-3" of snow heheheee. I'll be surprised if it sticks - but psyched if it does too :p. I put a sheet over my car windshield so it's not frozen when I go out in the morning. Might even have to keep Miley in the house tomorrow....

... WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO NOON PST MONDAY...

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO NOON PST MONDAY.

* TIMING: SNOW IS EXPECTED TO POSSIBLY BEGIN EARLY MONDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH AROUND NOON BEFORE TAPERING OFF.

* SNOW LEVEL: LOWERING TO NEAR SEA LEVEL EARLY MONDAY.

* MAIN IMPACT: PERIODS OF LIGHT TO OCCASIONALLY HEAVY SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE DURING THE MORNING HOURS ON MONDAY. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES MAY OCCUR. SIGNIFICANT DISRUPTIONS TO THE LOCAL TRANSPORTATION NETWORK MAY OCCUR (Yes, I know this for a fact. "We" have a hard enough time driving in the rain. I can't imagine in the snow  ).
WHILE THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THIS DEVELOPING WEATHER SITUATION... IT DOES APPEAR THAT THERE IS A STRONG POTENTIAL FOR A BAND OF ACCUMULATING SNOW TO OCCUR IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY MONDAY MORNING FROM AROUND MARYSVILLE SOUTHWARD THROUGH STOCKTON.
A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY.

More Information

... WINTER STORM EXPECTED TO IMPACT NORTHERN CALIFORNIA THROUGH MONDAY...

.A WEATHER SYSTEM OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST IS MOVING SOUTHWARD AND WILL GATHER STRENGTH TODAY BEFORE BRINGING HEAVY SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS TO THE NORTHERN SIERRA NEVADA AND FOOTHILLS TONIGHT AND MONDAY. LOW SNOW LEVELS ARE EXPECTED... LOWERING TO BELOW 1000 FEET MONDAY. THERE IS A STRONG POTENTIAL FOR SOME SNOW TO ACCUMULATE IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY... MAINLY FROM NEAR MARYSVILLE SOUTHWARD INTO THE NORTHERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF FROM THE NORTH MONDAY AFTERNOON AND IN THE SOUTH BY MONDAY EVENING.

I love the reactions of other states that never get snow when it does happen, :). I'm glad you're excited by the idea; you'll have to take pictures if it sticks!

Hah! Autozone is a global company... there's no way they'd think of lil' ol' us in Cali with 1-3" of snow  Mechanics still gotta bring in a paycheck don't they? (that's what we'd get if we asked for the day off).

Hahahaa....that sounds just like what happened in Texas this week. We got a touch of snow and schools were closing, businesses running on skeleton crews, etc. It snows for a few hours every few years and we get sooo excited! :yesnod:

Hehe! So did you get any snow out by you, or did it end up being just warnings?

We are supposed to get 2-4 inches by us today....

Around here when they say the "S" word everyone runs to the grocery store and buys up all the bread, toilet paper, and peanut butter. It's like they are expecting a storm of blizzard conditions. When I lived in Colorado where they actually have blizzards, they acted like it was nothing. Everyone stayed off the roads until the storm was over and then the roads were clear in about 10 minutes.

The Met Office in the UK forecast snow last week. It never happened. :bbconfused:

But this is the same Met office that MISSED a Hurricane that ripped through the South East in the early hours of the morning back in 1987.

I take all weather forecasts with a pinch of salt. I just look out the window.

If it's sunny, i go out.
If it's blowing a gale, i stay in.
If it's raining, i stay in and catch the drips from the Conservatory roof.
If it's snowing, i wrap up and go out to play. ;)

At the moment it's blowing a gale so i'm staying in.

The UK is exactly the same.

Why the sudden urge for Bread, Milk and Tins of Baked Beans.

Trains come to a stand still because it's "The Wrong Kind Of Snow" :bbconfused:
Get a grip LOL.

We got our first snow on Saturday and everyone was freaking out about it Friday night, running out for bread and milk. We will sometimes get a half inch or so but it's usually not until late February or early March and it usually melts by the time the sun comes up! I was really surprised to see it still on the ground by 10am Saturday. I didn't take any pictures though.

Awwww we took Miley to the snow for the first time the weekend of Thanksgiving. She LOVED it besides being freezing the whole time LOL. She played in it like a little kid :)

Not a chance of it sticking here though :( Well, I don't think so anyway.

Justina - there is a fellow in my cohort from Sacramento. Lived his whole life there, came to Buffalo for the first time last year. It started snowing, and he was still wearing shorts and biking to campus, and it was us (the native New Yorkers) who were like, what the heck are you doing?! It was funny because you'd think it'd be the other way around or something :lafhard:

I didn't think it ever got cold in California, let alone enough to snow!

It is chilly here, but supposed to warm up again on Wednesday, then get cold again :bbconfused:

We don't get snow here ever, only the occasional hail storm. It rained cats and dogs today and my neighbor was wearing her snow boots! We actually turned on our heater in the house today! It was chilly!

Brandi - you'd be surprised how much snow falls in California... but it's Northern CA and the eastern side of the state that gets it regularly. I'm dead in the middle of the valley so it's rare for us to see snow :)

Haley, we've been using our heater for a couple weeks. It's been in the 40/50's during the day so that's cold for me LOL! Tonight it's supposed to be 26*.... and 30 something tomorrow

That reminds me of when it would snow in Washington - everyone would freak out - it would be all over the news for days and the grocery stores would be packed...

Here no one even blinks. We have about 2-3 inches on the ground right now, and everyone is wondering where all the snow is this winter! LOL!

That's a bargain!! ;)

Bet the postage to the UK is a bummer though. I guess upwards of $1,500 P&P and it melts by the time it arrives.

All i get a bucket of water.

I read on Yahoo that the UK might get a White Christmas. Can't say i ever remember one growing up. But it only take one snow flake to fall on the Met Office Roof Christmas morning and it's declared a White Christmas.

Off to the Betting shop to place a bet.

Edit: Scrap that idea it's 2.13AM and they are shut.
