I know a lot of us here at OneWed are animal lovers. I just wanted to see a how everyone felt about animals in the house!

I, for one, love my furbabies and they are all welcome in my home. Sadie (my dog) stays inside most all the time. She goes out to go to the bathroom and to play. I have 2 cats who live outside, but come in to visit when Justin is not home.

Ok, I would rather my dogs stay outside, but it's 115 degrees outside. There's no way, I'm that cruel. So they stay in for now. When the weather gets cooler, and I'm mad because they pooped and peed on my carpet, they will be out there. My cat always stays in the house, I would die if she got out. :D

My dog is house broken exceptionally well. She does not chew and she has not had an accident on the floor in probably a year or more. She's not even 2 yet, so she would have been a puppy the last time she went on the floor. The only thing that bothers me is I have to sweep up hair all the time!

My cats for some reason seem to like it really hot. They stay in the hot garage all day when there are some nice shade trees in the yard they could get under. I also have a porch that has shade. I don't know why they like the garage so much.

My dogs are potty trained too, but they can't get outside because I don't have a doggy door. I don't have a doggy door because I don't want the cat to go outside.

I have a carpet cleaner, but guess who has it at her house. Anyone? Anyone? Yes, Amber. So I have to wait till she gives it back to me so that I can clean my carpet again.

Ruffles and Ellie live inside. We don't have a yard. If we did have a fenced in one, they would spend their afternoons out there playing and doing Scottie stuff. By nature they prefer to be outside anyway. But, living in the city doesn't afford that luxury. So, they are house dogs. But I don't mind. They don't shed, are both housebroken and paper trained, and withteh exception of Ellie gettin gtangled in the blinds on the day of my bridal shower and her eating the decorations off of the Christmas tree a few years ago, they are exceptionally well behaved.

But, 2 dogs are the limit. No more pets in the house. And definately no cats in the house. I don't like cats. (I'm sorry Amber.)

We believe animals should be outside. But we are not totally against them coming in the house to a point ang not into the kitchen or anything like that. My MIL's dog knows that he is allowed in the foyer and that's it. That is how we will raise our dog when we get it. Matthew hates and has a fear of cats (long story short, scarred as a child!) so we won't be having one of those ever. We had one for about ten days before Matt told me the cat goes or he does. I chose him and sent the cat packing to my parent's where he has a very GOOD life!! lol. So all in all, pets in my opinion should be outside...unless it's a hamster or something small like a chiuhua. (HOwever the hell you spell it! lol)

I would like for Sadie to have a yard to play in. We have a yard, but since we rent it is not fenced and we are not going to pay to put one up at a rent house. I would still have her sleep inside and come to visit whenever she wanted. When we actually do purchase a home we will have to have a very high fence. Sadie is not a very big dog. She comes up to my knee. My parents have a 5 foot chain length fence in their back yard and Sadie can jump over it. She plays with their dog for a few minutes and then she is out. Therefore even when we go over to my parents that have a yard she only gets to play outside for a short time.

Sadie stays in the house all day, but she will not go in the house. She's stayed here for over 8 hours and will not go in the house. I don't know why she is that good, she just is. The only thing she has ever broken was a floor lamp. She does get pretty hyper at times and she ran past it and knocked it over.

I have had animals in the house my whole life and for some weird reason I have never had any trouble with them getting into Christmas trees. I have had some that have gotten into everything else, but never that. Weird.

I dont think I could leave any of my animals outside. My dog is so spoiled that she would die if she got left outside for any extended amount of time.

Our dog is inside all the time. She is a shi-tzu. if our yard were fenced in then I wouldn't care for her going out for a few hours in the evening. but she wouldn't stay in the yard otherwise. I bought her for my daughter to have for company when I was working two jobs. I was gone about 4 nights a week. But jerry and I have talked about it and when she leaves this world (which i hope is not soon) we are not going to be tied down with anymore.

I would never leave our animals outside unless they asked to go out. Except the geese of course. We have two as some of you already know. They have a fenced in area outside and a pool to swim in. The overflow on our well runs all the time and we have it running in their pool so the water always stays clean. They are in it about 90% of the time, winter too. We let them out to run around once in awhile. They are really good about staying in the yard and not visiting the neighbors. :D

Our dog Simba stays inside when we are at work. When we get home she can stay in or go out, whichever she wants. Usually wherever we are is where she wants to be. We live in the country so we don't need a fence. She knows the boundaries and stays on our land without needing to be hooked up.

You never know what our cat Belle will want to do. Sometimes she stays inside all day, sometimes outside. But she always comes home at night.

Becky, I love your geese!

Well right now we have 2 guinea pigs so they stay inside in their cage. We are hoping to get a puppy around christmas. I think it will mostly be an indoor dog. We have tossed around what type of dog for a while, but we are figuring (right now) on a Yorkie. They are tiny enought that I don't mind having them indoor all the time. Plus, we don't have a fensed in yard right now, and we are next to the access rd to a school. Maybe once we buy our own place, we'll keep it outside more.

Our dog usually stays in the house during the day, unless it is a nice day. She knows her boundaries though. She is not aloud past the kitchen/dining room. She has her bed there and that is where she stays for the day. SHe is a lab/retriever so she sheds quite a bit and FH can't stand it all over the house. But if the weather is warm (not too warm) she likes to be out for the day.

We have a syberian husky. I love having her in the house, she sheds alot, but she is a part of the fam. We can't leave her outside all the time, 'specially in this heat.

Since our babies weigh upwards of 1200 lbs they stay outside LOL! We have dogs but they are beagles and they are outside too, Eric feeds and supplies fresh water everyday, and keeps their little swimming pool full of water in the hottest days.

I had a Min Pin in my past life (lol) and she was an inside dog, I loved her, spoiled her rotten but cussed every time I cleaned house because of the little hairs in the floors and on her spot on the couch. She liked outside better anyway, she would lay in the grass and eat bugs!

She ate bugs, she drank out of the toilet (fell in once, she was tiny), slept at the back of my knees and would relieve herself (doggie food farts are smelly) only when she was sitting in your lap!

This is Ellen's Charlie Girl Grundy
I could be a &itch and go get her with the help of the local Sheriff's Office (because she is AKC registered to me) but I left her becasue my life was in a turmoil and she was comfy and at home.

She is adorable. The vet has Ruffles on a low protien diet, so I know all about doggy gas. It can be bad, the worst is that it is usually silent.

Your life ins't in turmoil anymore, go get your baby!

By the way Ellie not only is Ellie a professional fly catcher but she gets joy fro tracking spiders through the house and eventually eating them too. :buck:

Thank you she had a wardrobe for ALL seasons and Holidays and I had a doggy car seat for the truck too!

I have thought alot about getting her but she doesn't know any other home than with him, he loves her, he takes good care of her and I hate to disrupt her life for my selfishness...I would do it to hurt him and to prove to him he no longer could control me...I'm bitter and she shouldn't be punished for it. Sorry I'm rambling she was my child!

My 1200 lb babies stay outside too! Sadie is the first indoor dog I've ever had. I've had inside cats all my life, but Justin is an anti-cat person. Our compromise is that I can have my 2 cats, but they live outside. Like I said I do let them come in when he is not home! He would die if he knew!

That reminds me of last year when I went with an instructor of mine to a client's house to assist in an embryo transfer. We drove up to the house (or so I thought it was the house) and I found out it was their barn. This barn was nicer than most houses. It was equiped with tv monitors for the foaling stalls, it had a small lab, wash rack, central AC and heat, little kitchenete (stove and oven and microwave even), trophy room. It was nice. We did drive by their house, but didn't go in. Their house was more like a castle. I later found out they also have a Hereford ranch up around where Justin went to college. He actually worked for them on the ranch one semester. He said their cattle set up was pretty extravagent too, but not to that extreme.

We will have 10 stalls, a wash bay (heated) and a tack/office room. The closed circuit tv will be in 1 stall that will double for foaling..and run to the monitor in the tack room/office...no A/C we may put in propane in the office for heat....if he wants to eat he can walk his *** to the house and grab a bologna sandwich LOL! If "KEEP" (Ky Equine Education Project) passes legislation we may have more horses but right now we have to pay taxes on everything equine but the cows are tax free...UGH some moron in a suit running my life!

I only skimmed the other posts here, but here are my two cents ...

My Italian Greyhounds are definitely inside dogs. They are small dogs and have little fur and body fat so they don't do well outside. They don't shed much and they are house trained (well the little one is a work in progress ;)) They sleep with us and I would say they are a bit spoiled

As for animal in the house in general, I don't see a problem with it as long as they are well behaved, especially when you have guests! I can't stand going over to my moms house because her dog jumps all over me, and I don't even like him. I won't bring my dogs over there because of him either.

I do think that large breed dogs should be outside and only brought in at night and/or in extreme weather. But that is JMO

As for cats, yeah not a fan of cats (sorry to all the cat lovers) I guess I just like dogs better. Besides, cats tend to make me sneeze. I did have cats when I was younger though. It bugs me when ppl let their cats out though ... we have alot of cats that run around our neighborhood. They get into stuff, poo in my yard, spook the dogs (or the dogs will just want to chase them) and they just generally get on my nerves. Besides all that, what if it was to get hurt, or what if someone decided to keep it? I think ppl should keep their cats on a leash outside just like a dog. I am pretty sure the leash law still applies to cats but for some reason it is not as enforced.

OK I guess I will stop now ... I hope I have not upset or offended any cat lovers out there :)

I feel the same way about cats. (And they are my favorite animal BTW) The only time I believe they should be out doors is on a leash in the city or to run free if you live out in the country and if you let them out, you must know the risks you are running. (my room mate was distraught when her cat didn't come home! She got squashed on the road but I told her, you don't want it to happen don't let the cat out!!! And if she doesn't come home, I'm sorry but I told you so!!) I've often wanted to catch the cat who keeps doing his business on my lawn and take him to the shelter!!! Why should I have to clean up after someone ELSES cat!! So im opinion, if you want out door cats, please move out to the country. Thanks from a non cat owner who doesn't like cleaning up cat poop in my yard!

PS With that being said, when we move back out to the country, I'll be getting two cats and I will know what to expect. We've had a lot of them get picked off by coyotes and some times even hawks, but that's the circle of life unfortunately!

if you even say the word outside to our cat you get one nasty little look that say ya you try to put me out there. She has never been out side besides when ross moves so she is spoild right now she is sleeping on her daddy and is as happy as any kitty could be.

This is my mare (JACKIE) and her filly (OOPS) she is going to auction because unfortunately she has bad bloodlines (her grandmother was an idiot) and she is the same way...we never intended Jackie to be bred especially not by what bred her...Sorry for the fuzzy I resized but Im photobucket impaired!

Step-horses...LOL funny you say that cuz it would explain why Lena (Eric's mare) dislikes me! I'm the wicked step-mother! She and Eric bonded after during his divorce (or so we all say) because he spent more time with her than any other female, when I came into the pic she was very obvious about not wanting me around...she tries to step on me, she takes her head and moves me away from Eric and she blows horse snot on me when I get close enough! She's better now and realizes I will feed her and rub on her so now she TOLERATES me LOL!

Here you're not supposed to let your cats outside. They get picked up and taken to the SPCA. I wouldn't let Dusty out of the house anyways. He's super cute but as dumb as a post and would get taken home by someone who found him or hit by a car. Not worth the risk in my mind.
We hope to get a dog as well. I don't want a big big dog i want a medium to smaller dog. One that can be inside. I feel bad for them when they are left outside all the time.

We keep put cats inside at all times. We dont want to risk losing them and we want to keep them clean as we have kids.
