I am minoring in Human Relations and I have this really crappy class this semester. The professor is having us do this huge project which is due next week. :bbeek: Okay so part of the project is joining e-mail list for five organizations that deal with social justice, peace, environment, animal issues, clean water, food...etc. Well this is what I am going to be working on all weekend. There is also like a million other things I have to do for this project but this is just a small part.
Is anyone here involved in any organizations that deal with any of these issues that you would like to share?
I thought about joining the mailing list for Code Pink. The professor is very liberal and doesn't agree with anything the government does which is kind of frustrating.
Any ideas?

Umm... have you ever heard of 4H? That may be something you can look into. It deals with a lot of those. It is kinda a country thing. lol Very popular here in TN.

hmmm Invisible Children deal with social justice. I'm not really sure if that is the type of thing you are looking for or not.

I'm a part of a group called Cool People Care. Basically it's a resource organization that tackles a lot of the issues you mentioned and more. Their basic idea is that people can change the world in 5 minutes a day. They don't have a specific cause they support, but provide information about a lot of other "cause specific" organizations.
They also send out a daily e-mail called "Five Minutes of Caring" which is always 99 words or less.

Thanks Sandy! I just googled it and it seems like a really neat organization. I am going to look through their website tonight.

Bioneers is an organization that is very close to my heart. I go to the Houston conference every year and feel so renewed for the year to come.
From their website:
The bioneers are engaged citizens from all backgrounds and fields who focus on solving our world’s most urgent problems within a framework of interdependence: It's all connected. Just as the web of life is intricately interconnected, so too are all environmental and social issues. We take a "solve-the-whole-problem" approach that is holistic, systemic and multidisciplinary.

If your local 4-H site helped, try your local FFA (Future Farmers of America) site as well!
Good luck! I just took a HR class - I kinda enjoyed it!
