I need help...my wedding is in August, the reception is in a tent outdoors on a slab of concrete..The whole concrete slab idea is not jiving with my vision for my garden wedding..Any ideas on how to spruce up/change this piece of concrete into a comfortable dance floor/reception?? I'm stuck

Are you planning/is it in your budget to cover it? there are portable dance floors. both raised and not, that you could look into. If you, what about some topiaries around it? Might soften it up a little.
is it night or day time? possibility of lighting comes into play there. some uplighting or a monogrammed light - i know someone here ordered the slide pretty inexpensive for their light and it was rather cheap

Do you have a style/theme yet? I used to work at a country club and we did alot of weddings in tents on a "slab of concrete" What made the ambiance was the table settings and well chosen lights and plants. They would also have cool drapery type entrances with lattice and things. I know that stuff can add up if you are paying someone to do it but I think it could be done affordably as well.

A long time ago a neighbor had her reception in her yard. For the dance floor all they used was sheets of ply wood. They drilled little holes in the ply wood and used zip ties to hold the sheets of ply wood together. Then they painted it.

I found these directions on ehow.com.You don't have to do exactly like they tell you,but maybe it'll give you some ideas-
