so my dress is ivory...and being it's a beach wedding, and the girl's haven't gotten their dresses yet, i found a dress shop in the mall that has these cute little tea length dresses...they're like a champagnish color(sp?)...and they're lace, and they're not slim fit, kind of an abbreviated a-line, sleeveless and v'necked. fh thought they'd be great, since the guys might end up in khaki or ivory suits, or just slacks, and shirts(depending on the dresses, maybe even hawaiian shirts ;))

so i was wondering what you ladies think? the dress also comes in a beige color, as well as navy or baby blue. but i think in any of the colors, it's a wear-again style, even to work for 1 of my bridesmaids...and i'm thinking of finding some of those ankle foot bracelet thingies? in place of shoes...and then ballet slippers for the reception...any opinions?

In my head... if i see the guys in khaki, i'd want to see the BMs in at least a hint of color... champagne/beige are really nice colors i just feel like it'd blend in too much...

i just saw pics of a wedding w/girls in a gold/champangy color and the MOH in like a watermelon color... the guys were in black tuxes w/matching ties... the color was just too close to the ivory dress IMHO... not that they're the same but idk lol do u know what i mean tho?

If I am understanding you correctly, I think that the champagne colored dresses and tan/beige for the guys will look okay, but I would suggest getting a sash or something to give the girls some more color.

I also think that the guys in black wouldn't look bad either, if you decided to go that route.

So where are you having your beach wedding at? And i thought about doing tea length dresses for my girls till i saw a wedding at the beach and it was so windy that almost the whole time all you saw were legs and thongs. I felt so bad for the bridesmaids. So i'm having my girls wear long dresses just in case. But i think that at a beach wedding the girls should wear bright colors so that they don't blend into the sand in pictures. And i'm a little colorblind and champagne colors look the color of sand to me. But that could just be me. I don't know what everyone else see.

i would put bms in a bright color for a beach wedding. i think champagne would be too close to your ivory dress and they would blend in with the sand.

I agree that they might blend in with the surroundings. If you are set on the colour you can always add a bright colour sash or flowers.

Hello,

I think if we talking about the beach wedding then the bright colors are best for the bridesmaids. In a few days back i attend one of my relative marriage there were all the bridesmaids are in bright color and the decoration are in maroon color.Bride is in white color and she have a nice flower in her hand.

Olivia

I'd also be worried about the BMs blending into the sand. I'd prefer to see a bright color! I think the navy color would work, as long as you had some bright colored bouquets.

While i initially love the idea (i had guys and girls in black with a hint of ivory in my wedding... so i looove the uniform look of one color straight across, like very clean lines) - i think seeing the dress, i could give a better opinion. b/c to be honest, if its workable, i think the girls idea of a sash is pretty dang good :)

well, the sand at the beach is white/grey....it's crystal beach/bolivar peninsula(galveston area)...but the other day i went to ross, and found a bunch of dresses(and even found 1 for me for the reception :jphappy: for just $19!!)

i found a few that were a dark champagne color...so later that day, i went to 1 ross, my bm went to another, and the other girl went to burke's outlet...between all 3 stores, we found ALOT of champagne colored dresses, and even my matron(who is a 3x) found a great one! since my maidOH is in IL, i got her feedback and size, between numerous phone calls, and the availability of picture mail, we got 3 bm dresses, and 2 fg dresses, plus my reception dress, all for about $175? less i think. my matron, her dress was $49, the other girls were 20-35, the fg dresses, are ivory, and chiffon with a strecthy satin bodice/upper(so it'll match my bridal gown and my reception dress), and those were just $13 each! the flowers, were going to be hydrangeas and roses, but i found a good deal on roses on a website with great reviews, so we're going to do all cream roses, but my bouquet will have a single hydrangea, with a mini rose ring around it...that, or we're going to go to kroger next weekend, buy some open roses, go to michaels and get the styro balls, and try our hand at making pomanders...that's what we'd prefer, and that way, we can still incorporate white hydrangeas...we thought about cala's, but for the price of 25 calas, i can get 100 roses, meaning we can do all the bouquets, corsages, bouts, and instead of worrying about candles getting knocked over, etc, we're going to put some roses in these short vases i'd already bought to be candle holders...we already have votives, and we're going to make some luminaries...wow, we got bored quick, and came up with some great, cheap ideas! a benefit of the B&B we're getting married at, she already has a TON TON TON, of white lights everywhere! so my bm said with 100 roses, we could always skip putting them in vases, and tie single roses to ribbon, and dangle them from the rafters...sounds like a corny idea, and she was jokin when she said it, but since she has open rafters in her living room, we're going to try that as well next weekend ;)
