So last night I woke up choking - twice. First time was an hour after I went to sleep and Matt was still up. I was coughing and started choking so bad I almost puked on our bed. So I got up and drank some water - that didn't help at all - still gagging. I got up and took a cough drop and I think I fell asleep with it in my mouth. That helped me get through the next couple hours.

...a few hours later I woke up choking again. This time the water helped.

I started off with a sore throat on Thursday due to food lodged in my throat that I couldn't get out (gross, I know). Well the sore throat has turned to a sensitive, coughy throat and now it's that plus the need to sneeze and runny nose. Really, all I gotta do is inhale quickly or laugh or breathe cold air and I start coughing. The sad part is that coughing doesn't help! When I do cough I have a vibrating feel in my chest - so I know something's not right in there.

Ugh. Frustrating.

I know like, half the board is sick (same goes with my coworkers and my family). What are you doing for it? I'm coming in late in the sick game so I'm curious what you ladies are doing for it.

Thanks!

Oh no; glad you got passed that! Cough drops before bed are never a good idea!

Whatever I had started on Sunday with a raspy throat; then progressed into stuffy, sneezy, achyness and some coughing, but not much, and a mild fever ... the stuffiness got so bad everytime I would swallow I would almost gag. The pressure made my whole head hurt, even my eyes and my ears.

I have been taking Day-Quil and Night-Quil; sometimes it seems to help, sometimes not. Today I feel a little better than yesterday, but still pretty rough. I am just gonna try to take it easy today too.

I really need to try to wash some clothes and try to cook dinner tonight since I didn't do that last night.

Oh I didn't fall asleep with the cough drop at first - I took the cough drop after I woke up choking and that's what helped me stop choking. Sorry, I should have clarified. I agree though, if I were choking on the cough drop I'd be kickin' myself LOL.

Brandi - that sounds familiar... and I am pretty sure I get this every year. I'm just totally not looking forward to the pressure headaches and body aches. Ugh :irked:

I'm sorry you're not feeling well! :( I haven't picked anything up yet (:crossfingers: I won't) but I've had bad coughs like that before. I know it's no fun. :(

Last week, I got something that sounds very similar... a very sore throat, runny nose, and sneezing sensation. The day after that, I woke up with a plugged up ear and my whole body ached. Then, when I thought I was getting better, I got a hacking cough. Everything has been getting better every day, but I still don't feel the greatest. My mom had the same symptoms followed by bronchitis, so I'm wondering if I have that. That hangs on forever!

I'm not sure if anything I did helped... I slept for long periods of time and drank tons of water. Orange juice probably would've been better, but we didn't have any.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

I haven't gotten sick in awhile, :crossfingers:, but when I do, before I go to bed I take Nyquil. Its the only thing that gets me through the night without waking up coughing. Although, while it knocks you out pretty good, I always wake up really groggy in the morning and it takes me awhile to snap out of it. Dayquil during the day helps too.

I hope you all feel better!

I'm pretty sure I'll get that cough that lasts for 6 weeks after this blows over - it never fails when I do get sick. I'm thinking I'm bronchial but I've never been to the doctor for it.

I have to be up at 4:30-5am... there's no way I can survive if I took nyquil LOL! But I agree - that stuff works wonders on sleep!

I just got back from the doctor's about 15 min ago... I have pharyngitis (inflammation of the pharynx.). I get it every year, and this year I caught it REALLY early (just started last night with a sore throat). Hopefully the antibiotic will kick it in the bud before it really takes off!

Hope you feel better!!!

I've been fighting something for 2 weeks now. At first I thought it was just allergies, but it turned into aches and icky feeling pretty quick. Now, the worst of it is gone. I have a stuffy nose that runs, but I'm pretty used to that from allergies. The worst part is I have that same cough you are talking about Justina. It gets worse at night and if I laugh, I'm done in. It kept me up a couple nights, but I took some benadryl to knock me out. I also have had a lot of wheezing with it, which is not fun when you're trying to sleep! I can't use my inhaler so it makes me extra nervous!

Good luck getting rid of it. Kev went to the doctor and she said he had a post-viral cough and it would go away on its own, but just nag him for awhile. I'm assuming that's what I have too.

Awww I'm sorry to hear you got it too Haley. I've probably sneezed 20 times today, and attempted to about 50 times. I hate that feeling in my chest when I inhale - it's like a fluttering feeling because of my chest congestion. Nothing's coming up, but that feeling really sucks.

Hopefully Matt doesn't get it - he's going through so much right now :(

DH has it. It started a couple of days ago with his throat kind of scratchy, and Sunday evening he was really warm and flushed--I don't think he took his temp but I'm sure he had one. Yesterday sneezing and runny runny runny nose. Poor thing can't do anything because he has to keep running to the kleenex box! He's been taking Sudafed and I don't know if it's helping. I don't usually get sick but I'm kind of nervous this time since we're living in such close quarters. You know, at home, if my mom or brother was sick, it's not like I was sleeping next to them. I guess we'll have to see, but :crossfingers: that I stay healthy and he (and the rest of you) gets healthy!
