We're sending out save the dates and we're running into some problems on how to address some of the families. I have been unable to find anywhere the answers to these questions. All these websites tell you how to address couples with a different last name. All of them tell you how to address families with children. NONE OF THEM ACTUALLY COMBINE THE TWO CONCEPTS!! Most of my questions involve the parents having different last names, and the children having some or both of the names themselves.

1) Jon Tucker, Kate Clark, husband and wife with 3 children by the name of Clark-Tucker.

2) Husband and wife different last names, son with husband's last name.

2) Sarah Reynolds-Davis, daughter Mary Davis. (Jeff Davis divorced Sarah, and is not invited.)

Please tell me how we should address these people...

not sure if it follows "proper etiquette" but this is how i'd do it

1) Mr. John Tucker and Mrs. Kate Clark
John, Bobby, and Suzy Clark-Tucker
or
Mr. and Mrs. John Tucker and Kate Clark and family

2) same as number one i think

3) Ms. Sarah Reynolds-Davis and Miss Mary Davis

personally on my STDs i said The X Family to indicate the whole fam was invited... if the kids weren't invited it was Mr. and Mrs. X

idk if you really need the kids names on the STDs... personally i thought it was overkill took up too much space... if ppl wanted to confirm that their kids were invited they could call and ask...

I also like the idea putting "and family" after the parents' names. That is what we did for everyone that had kids living at home. If it was just one kid still at home, I think we put their name in. And I agree about putting both names on the third one.

Something like this is what I would do too ...

If you are doing the formal inner and outer envelope thing, then the formal etiquette would have the adults names on the outside and the names of everyone that was invited (kids and all) on the inside.
