So I may be getting ahead of my self here. But I have been researching alternatives to clomid. I am so afraid I'm going to go to the doctor on Thursday and have them tell me I'm still not responding. So I keep coming across a drug called Femara. The little I know about it is that it was first used to treat woman with breast cancer but now it has being used to help woman with anovulation problems. Although it is not FDA approved for this purpose. I have also read that is has a lot less side effects the clomid and has a short half life. Although I have also come across a study that says it can cause birth defects. But of course the more I research I keep finding other articles that say the study is flawed. Has anyone tried this drug, or know someone who has?

Sounds interesting. I've never heard of it, but it's awesome that you're doing your research. :)

Probably because you would have to pay out of pocket because it's being used as an off label treatment. At this point, money is no issue for us. If it costs a couple hundred dollars so be it.
Danielle - I may have missed mention of this in your journal, but did you talk to your doctor about this? If so, what did your doctor have to say?

She said she wouldn't prescribe it because it considered using it as "off label"

I'm guessing you can't get it unless it's prescribed? That stinks :realmad:

Yea, but in all honesty if my doctor doesn't feel safe to prescribe it to me I wouldn't feel safe taking. I would wonder what the side effects would be for my baby and for me.

Good point... and since it's not FHA approved there's a liability issue I would thing.
Oh Danielle I hope you find something that works for you soon!!!

Yeah - let me know! LOL! I am a vacationer/fertility drug mule.
Hopefully your injections do the trick and you won't even have to worry about it!
