IS anyone getting married or have attended a wedding at either castle in the 1000 islands? Any opinions of either, which one is a better venue (in any way)?

Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't know anyone who has been married in a castle. And I can't think of any of our recent brides who have married in one either.

Hopefully somebody on here will know someone who has.

I had to even look it up to find out where the thousand islands are located!

I found some albums of other weddings at the castles but haven't read too many reviews of the actual wedding from brides:

Hi! I know this thread is pretty old but I know a lot about these castles, if anyone's still reading this! I grew up in the Thousand Islands and I am getting married at Singer Castle on Dark Island on June 26, 2011. So here's the rundown: Boldt Castle has a really romantic history, Mr. Boldt was having it built as a wedding gift to his wife and she died halfway through it's construction, at which point he had all construction stopped. It sat that way for about 70 years until it was fixed up and opened to the public. Tres romantic, no? The downside is you can only get married at the gazebo, no other options, and they only allow you one hour to get in, set up, get married, clean up and get out because there will certainly be a wedding right before and right after you. Pretty lame. Singer Castle is a little further down the St. Lawrence and was originally built as a hunting lodge, but it's just as gorgeous. I chose Singer because you have a variety of locations to choose from, such as the tea garden, the rose garden (my location), the greens, etc. and as much time as you need, plus you can have your reception in the great hall and even stay the night in the master suite if you choose. They also offer a guided tour of the castle to your guests while you're having your pictures done, and they have a very wide selection of music they can provide for the reception. They also work closely with a couple different wedding coordinators in local towns which obviously helps a lot. Boldt Castle offers none of this, just a romantic story, and you are completely on your own for the rest of it. One other plus of Boldt though is that you can wander the grounds at your own leisure, whereas at Singer, if you want to wander through the castle you must have a guide at all times. I have been to both castles many, many times and the bottom line is that they are both breathtakingly beautiful. Keep in mind that for either location you will also have the added expense of transportation, as they are only accessible by water, not bridge. Uncle Sam's Boat Tours in Alexandria Bay, NY offers transportation for weddings at both places, and you could google 'water taxi Clayton, NY' or alex bay, ny for more options. Good luck in whatever you choose and congrats on your special day! Hope this helped some!
