That's how much my wedding costs. If extemely helpful we're both laid back and just want to keep it casual.

The ceremony and reception site was $400. In a nice, manor. Since it's in a manor, it's already pretty enough. We just need to throw a few tableclothes on.

The food was $500, a buffet style for 150 guests.

The dress, tux and the fitted came out to be $200.

The desserts will $80, including cupcakes, candy and cookies.

We found 100 invites on sale for only $10. We're saving by not doing the RSVP card/postage and having people RSVP online or by phone.

No DJs. We don't really dance. Instead, we're setting up some board games and cornhole. (Fun fun!)

Things that we are doing for free:

Wedding cake. One of my awesomely yummy baker friends will be doing that.
Photos & Video. Again, another friend.

We haven't figured out the flowers part yet. I think that we're going okay, budget wise. It's us and simple and can't wait for January.

wow! thats great! I'm hoping not to spend too much either. The good thing is the FH's mother is a pastor so the church and reception area will be free! also, I'm going to find as many friends/family members to do as much as they can to save me money :)

I live in the UK and got Married in October 2008. When i converted it into US Dollars for the readers of OW. Ours came in around the $1,000 mark too.

Our Wedding was very casual. Just very good friends, DH's Four Daughters and Grandson, DH's Brother and his girlfriend. (None of my family). Reception at home, Catered for myself. Plenty to drink and a party that went on until Sunday.

Way to go. :ura1:

This is awesome! You guys are the first people I've seen who are doing it as cheap as we are!!

We're having it at a grange hall, so the rent for the ceremony/reception site is only $200. My mom's best friend is a caterer, and my dad's a plumber, so he's doing some work for her in exchange for a cake and some desserts, as well as drinks (But no alcohol. We're 19, the hall doesn't allow it, it's expensive, and honestly there are people coming who are far more pleasant when there's no booze anyway). My dress was $40 at a garage sale (and it's lovely), a friend who is a professional photographer is doing the pictures for $300, and then I made all the bouquets, the flower girl basket, and the boutonnières myself. The groom's tux will be about $120, and the best man and maid of honor are paying for half of their clothes, so our part will be about $90, and the flower girl is wearing a dress I had when I was little. My sisters and sister in law are doing the music, and one of my friends, who is a wedding planner, is doing the day-of coordination (so I don't rip my hair out trying to delegate and get my hair done at the same time). I spent $20 on stamps, $40 on an invitation kit, and about $60-70 dollars for all the flowers and baskets and ribbons and other decoration-like things.

What it all comes down to is a lot of careful planning, detailed budgeting, friends with connections, and a huge handful of serious luck.

It should be a fun, happy wedding with my family and close friends, and I'll feel REALLY good that I managed it all on so small a budget. Plus then we won't start off our marriage in more debt than we already have (stupid student loans). :D I think it's awesome!!
