How old is too old to be a ring bearer? We don't have any little boys in our families and the only young boy I know is about 12 or so years old.

My brother was a ring bearer for my sisiters wedding about 5 years ago. That woul dhave made him 11 years old. She wanted to make sure all the kids had a part. So he pulled her daughter in a wagon as the flower girl and she was only 6 months old. So I think realy what ever fits for you.

I'd say use the 12 year old as your ringbearer. I don't think that's too old.

This came from the Los Angeles Times. I hope it helps. But whatever you want is fine, it's your wedding. I would say, go for it. :)

The appropriate age for child attendants is between 3 and 8, but brides today also have younger children, even infants, in their wedding parties. But, beware: Babies and toddlers can be distracting and unpredictable and may decide that the walk down the aisle is intimidating.

I think 12 may be too old for a ring bearer. This is not a necessary role. If you want him in the wedding, I would put him in there as a Jr. Groomsman.

Or even an Usher. Jason's son is 10 which we feel is too old for a RB, but we are making him an Usher instead. :)

Well I know that you don't have to have one. We still don't know.

You do not neccesarily even have to have a ring bearer. I would think that a 12 yr old would work better as a junior groomesmen. That is the age when kids start to think they are "old" and probably would get offended by asking him to do a "baby's job." A jr. groomesmen would probably suit him better.

I agree with the Jr. Groomsman. It is more of a "grown up" role in the wedding.

I've heard of a junior BM but I never thought of a Jr. Groomsman. Thx ladies. This might help too since FH might be short on GM.

I agree with some of the other ladies. I think that 12 is a little old as well. My ring bearer is only going to be two years old, but that is because my brother is the next oldest male in either family and he is 24!! I would think that any kid still in Grade School is ok to have for either a ring bearer or a flower girl. Could your flower girl do both: carry the rings and the flowers? My parents only had one (either a flower girl or a ring bearer...I can't remember which).
