I was just wondering if anyone here suffers from migraines. I don't know if that is what I have or not, but I know I had a BAD headache today. The first time I had one of these headaches was about 10 months ago. It came on so fast. I was fine one minute and the next minute I was in so much pain I couldn't drive anymore and I had to call my brother to come pick me up. This morning I woke up feeling fine. I went to the cafe for breakfast and I started to get a little headache. My drink was really cold so I thought that had something to do with it. Then it just got worse. The light bothered me. I even threw up. I feel better now, but not 100%. That is why I am sitting home on a Saturday night when there is lots going on around here.

Do you think these could be migraines? These are like the worst headaches ever. Like I said, I got one today and I had one about 10 months ago.

It sounds like a migraine, but you should definitely go talk to your Dr. I get horrible migraines taht incapacitate me to teh point that I cant't even function!!! I would definitely reccomend that you talk to your Dr. about it, cause theya re horrible. I usually take Excedrin Migraine as soon as I start to feel one coming on. If it gets too bad too quick or gets out of control I find somewhere dark and quiet and crawl into bed/couch whatever..I take some Excedrin Migraine and I go to sleep!!! I know a few of the girls on here get them...so maybe someone else will have better advice!!! When I am really stressed out I get them ALOT!!!

It probably is a migraine. You described classic symptoms- severe pain, nausea, vomiting, sensativity to light, ect. But, I'm not a doctor so my advice is to go and talk to yours. Start keeping a journal of everything you did, and ate on the days of your attacks.

As for the over the counter stuff, it doesn't do a **** thing for me. Your doctor will be able to prescribe something that won't just try to cover up the pain but will actually get your blood vessels to dialate back to their proper size to stop the migraine. I personally take Imitrex and it works for me with minimal side effects. I have tried Zomig but it is too strong and the side effects are more pronounced. Also, Relpax is supposed to be very good but I haven't had personal experience with it.

If you are like me, occasionally you will get a migraine that starts while you are asleep so you can't take your medication at the start of the attack. Those migraines are the worst and tend to stick around for days. Or, you will get a secondary headache from the migraine itself once it goes away. In those two cases, your doctor should be able to prescribe a prescription pain medication to make it more tolerable for you.

Also, some people say that an ice pack on the affected area will help dull the pain. I never had luck with that. If ice doesn't work for you, try a heating pad or at least a hot compress over the eyes. That always makes likfe tolerable for me when I get a bad one.

I feel for you. I have dealt with migraines since I was about 16 and started my period. They got worse after a car accident that I had when I was 18 from the strain on my head and neck due to my injuries. It wasn't until my junior year in college though that I found a doctor who took my symptoms seriously and got me on the proper medication. Until then every day was a **** shoot since I got migraines that left me in bed 3-4 days a week. At its worst I had to withdrawl from school for a semster because I just coulnd't get out of bed to get there most of the time. I hope you are feeling better soon. But go to your doctor. There is something as simple as a pill that will have you feeling like your regular self in about an hour.

I get pretty bad headaches every now and then. The last time I had them real bad for like a week straight, plus I was having dizzy spells :bbeek: I went to the Dr and they said it was most likely migraines brought on by stress. They gave me a prescription for this stuff called Maxalt, it is a quick dissolve kind of thing and it works pretty well.

So like the other ladies have said, I would talk to your Dr.

Feel better!

I take Tylenol extra strength. I don't get them too often. But when i do i have to try and sleep it off.

Yup to me it sounds like migraines! I had those really bad when I was about 10-14. (I haven't had one since because i always take something if I feel a headache coming on! No chancing it!) I also throw up when I get a migraine and it usually relieves the tension on my head. Like everyone else said, see your doctor. My doctor gave me a list of things to avoid eatting and to also keep a food journal like Lacey said. Hope all is better soon!! Take care Kacie!! :)

PS Sorry I'm late getting ot this thread!
