Early Christmas Present!!!!!

So I've been looking for one of these since February. I have found several I like but rarely under $300... and new they're upwards of $500. So, my friend was looking on CL today and found this and sent me the link. I sent it to Matt with the title "Early Christmas present???"

Sure enough - he called the guy and they still had it. Now I have a dining table, a cutting board, storage, and a towel rack!!!!! WOOHOOO!! I'm SO excited!

And the best part? It's fully functional, made of WOOD (not compressed wood), and it was only $100!!!!!

My next project for sure - it needs a deep cleaning... that's it :)

Hehe... I said "Babe, I love this thing - I've been looking for it just shy of a year and haven't found it under $300". I'm sure he'll still figure something out, but this was my BIG present :) I'm happy - he can't imagine HOW I'm happy cuz it's "just a butchers block"... but it sure will help in the kitchen!

I've been looking at Butchers Blocks for our Kitchen. Like you all i've found are either mega money, too small or too flimsy. Looks like you have a bargain there. ;)

Just proves that things come to those who wait.

Now just tell us you don't plan on stripping it, painting it, varnishing it etc. It looks great as it is. :yesnod:


BTW. Tell DH you need new Knives, Towels etc. Ooh maybe a new Apron to wear. :rofl:

Mitch & Gwen - no, I don't plan on painting it just yet. I've gotta do a deep cleaning of it but I think it'll be just fine - it goes great with the hutch already, but it is still sitting in my living room because I'm using it for my sewing project right now LOL. If I do paint it it'll be wayyyy down the road :)

Yes.... I did get a steal at $100... I am SOOOO happy! And I get to move everything around in my kitchen to accommodate it. The dog crate has GOT to go! It's so in the way :bbconfused:

It works GREAT in the kitchen. I wouldn't have been able to even do all those pies without it... I'da been soooo frustrated LOL.

Thanks Jeanne - I still love it :) I haven't even filled it yet (all the storage).. but I plan to do that when I empty the drawer unit you can see next to our "dining table"
