View Full Version : Freaking out!

About a week and a half ago I found out I was pregnant, as some of you may know. My last cycle was September 7, so I'm about 6 weeks. Well, for the last few days I've been having some brown discharge/staining when I wipe. I haven't had any cramps along with the discharge, and it's never been red, only brown. It's only been happening on and off for 4 or 5 days, but today it seemed to get a little heavier, although still brown and no cramps. I haven't had sex, but have been walking b/c I found out my blood pressure was high, which isn't unusual for me, but still something to be concerned about.
I called the doctor today to tell her about it, and she wants me to come in at 9 for an ultrasound just to make sure everything is okay.
Needless to say, I'm FREAKING out!!! I've been scouring the net, but nothing reassures me. I pray that's it's nothing, but I'm so happy about starting a family, I'm also constantly worrying b/c things rarely go this well in my life. I'm really not even sure what I am looking for by posting this on here, but I needed to get that out. My family just tells me that everything well be fine, but what if its not? I also have trouble being vulnerable in front of people, so this seemed like the safest place for me to get everything out. Thanks for being here ladies :)

Well first of all - congrats on your :bfp:! I'm thrilled for you.
I don't have any advice about your current issue because I've never been there, but I know you did the right thing by calling a doctor and making an appointment. Try not to stress yourself out too much because that's not going to help anything - just try to breathe and take good care of yourself until you get a definitive answer as to what's happening.
 I hope everything is ok.

I've been thinking about you since you first posted your BFP!
I know some dark spotting can be normal at first, especially at the 5 week mark. It's good you're going to the doctor just in case, but like Gwen said, don't stress too hard because that could be worse for you than the discharge!
Good luck! Keep us posted!
Thinking of you! Let us know what you find out!

this happened to me too...everything turned out ok. it turned out for me that i wasn't as far along as i though but sometimes its common to "spot" that first month after concieving...HTH. Good luck and fingers crossed for you!!!!!!!!!:crossfingers::hearts:
I hope that all goes well for you at the dr. appointment!! I heard that a brown discharge is normal in the early stages of pregnancy, but don't quote me. Good luck!

Hoping and praying it's just some random spotting. I'm sure it is, but I think it's a really good idea to see the doctor.

OK,first you need to calm down.Don't stress yourself out, thats not going to help anything.
Having the ultrasound is good. But just because your spotting doesn't mean it's something bad!!!I'm a mother of 4.With 2 of my pregnancies in my first trimester I bleed like I was having a visit from AF.So i rushed to the doctors and both times my baby was alright.Lots of women either spot or bleed during their pregnancy. It's realy common.Just relax put your feet up,and don't freak out!
I wish you luck,I'll be thinking of you.

This happened to me too, just a couple of weeks ago, and I FREAKED. I was in floods of tears for hours. Luckily for me, I just happened to have a scan booked in for that day anyway, and so I went thinking the worst- and instead got to see a teeeeeny tiny heartbeat racing along.
So long as you aren't cramping and the blood isn't red (like af) then you are probably fine. Try to relax and don't stress yourself out more- I know it's practically impossible, but do deep breathing exercises or something.
I'll be thinking of you, let us know how you go :crossfingers:.

Thanks ladies!! Everything I have read has said basically the same thing-that it's relatively normal and I shouldn't panic. It's just so much easier said then done!! I, too, have been in tears for the last hour. I'm not normally like this, all worried and panicky. All I can think about is all the bad things that can happen. Normally I'm the optimist, reassuring everyone else that things will be fine. This is so not like me!
I will definitely keep you all updated...thank you so much for all the support!
Hang in there Liz! Good luck at the doc's - everything will be just fine :)

Sorry it's taken me so long to get on here...but everything is fine!!
I got my first ultrasound pictures and I heard the heartbeat!!! It's so much more real now, and I can actually relax and be excited. The lady that gave me the ultrasound said that she would rich if she had a nickel for everytime a patient came in with the same symptoms, she would living on a beach somewhere b/c she would be rich. She also said that 93% of woman that get to this point in the pregnancy and hear a heartbeat don't miscarry, so I should be fine.
I'm so relieved, thanks for listening ladies :)
