Not sure exactly how to say this but I'll try my best.A month or so ago,FH and I decided that we wanted to TTC.So,I stopped taking my BC and we tried with no results.I started taking my BC when I was around 16 and just this year I stopped and I'm 21 now. I've heard that it can take a while to get pregnant after stopping bc after being on it for so long and that it can take up to 3-4 months for me to regulate again.
So,I tried to calculate and I was supposed to be due last thursday or friday.Never got it.So,I thought it would come on monday, never did nor do I have it today. So is it because the hormones from the BC are still leaving my system?I mean don't get me wrong,FH and I would love to have kids one day but at the moment, the big priority is saving and planning the wedding. So if there is anyone out there who have gone off of BC after being on it for many years or anyone who has advice,it is very much appreciated.

It partially depends on what form of BC you were using.
The pill (estrogen or progesterone-only) is really kept in check on a day-to-day basis as you are taking the pill. Once you stop, you are immediately (depending on where you are in your cycle) able to conceive.
You still ovulate while you are on the pill, so when you stop taking them your body doesn't have THAT much adjusting to do. My boss's wife (who had been on it since they got married in college - something like 4 years before they had the baby) stopped taking them in June and was three weeks along by mid-July. On the same token, a friend of mine went off the pill because she couldn't afford the doctor's visit and prescription without insurance, and got preggo the next month... because she wasn't all that careful.

I thought the pill stops you from ovulating. :bbconfused:

Oh, whoops. Sorry.. its just the POP's (the progesterone only pills, which I'm on.. so I guess I just think in terms of the mini-pill), but their main duty is to make it more difficult for the sperm to get to through the cervix into the egg by creating a thicker mucous and it makes the lining of the uterus thicker to stop the implantation of any eggs that do get fertilized. There is one mini-pill that stops eggs from being released, but most of them only have that effect 'some of the time'.
I guess it would make sense that estrogen pills stop you from ovulation.
So scratch that. :P

It's quite possible your body is just re-regulating itself. I was on the pill for 7 years. My first cycle off the pill was really short, like 20 days. Then the next one was 24 days. Then the next one was 31 days. Then back to 28. Then I finally got pregnant, but I was trying to!
If you're being careful in other ways, it is probably just your body getting back on track. Still, like Skippy said, it wouldn't hurt to take a test and prove it to yourself.
I agree with Haley on this - it's most likely that your body is still trying to adjust. However, you may just take a HPT to be safe - and be sure to let us know how that goes!

I can take a while for your body to adjust coming off the pill, expecially if you have been on it for a while.
Another one of our member, Jacklynn just came off the pill in August I believe and her first month she went 60 days without a period.

Yep :( Well I actually went off in July, went 60 days before having a period, and now I haven't had one since September 11th - and with today being October 21st that means I am on day 41 - and I'm not pregnant. I went on the pill at 17 almost 18 and went off at a little over 22 - so a little over 4 years.
I'm curious though - you said you went off the pill because you wanted to TTC, but now you are hoping you aren't pregnant because you aren't ready? Did you change your mind?

Yes.FH and I were trying to conceive a month or so ago and I ended up getting my period so we knew that I wasn't pregnant. Then we decided that we should wait until we were married and whatnot and possibly moved away from his parents (his mom can be clingy).

Today is about 31 days that I haven't had my period.I took a HPT last night and it proved negative.I don't know if I took it too early though. For the past couple days,I feel like I should be getting it because like I said in another post,I've been getting cramped up and moody (according to FH).

31 days isn't too early - BUT some people don't show get BFP until later. Do you feel any other symptoms?
If are wanting to NOT be pregnant then take comfort in knowing that like I said I went 60 days before periods and now am on day 41 - and now pregnant. Bad for me, possibly good for you ;)
What kind of BC were you on, I wonder if we were on the same brand?

Besides cramping, the only other symptoms I have are being moody (according to FH ;)), and I get real tired. Then again, that's usual.Other than that,I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms such as cravings and what have you.
My doctor had me on bc called microgestion (or something like that). It was in a purple pack with green "active" pills and brown "placebos"

LOL Jacklynn, I had to read that twice!!!
FutureMrs.Lestician87, I was on microgestin for years, and was on it last before I stopped taking the pill. It took me about 2 months before I knew I ovulated, but 4 months before I actually got the cervical mucous where I KNEW I was ovulating.
Best of luck to you!

Just an update.Still no period.I got advice from a doctor on Justanswers.com, (great site) and he said that it should come in the next week or I could induce it by taking provera.I'm hoping that it comes in the next week and I can go back on bc.Just for the simple fact that my doctor is like an hour and a half away,I don't have insurance right now so I know the medication would be more than it is if I was still on my mom's insurance. So if it doesn't come in the next week, then I'm going to see if my doctor will give me a prescription for provera over the phone.
