Is everyone getting married in a castle venue in North America? Unfortunately some of the castle venues on this side of the world are pretty tacky looking (boxy, unattractive, built for the sole purpose of making a quick buck), but there are some very nice castles out there too.

I have absolutely fell in love with Hatley Castle in Victoria, BC. I dare you to look at these pictures and NOT fall in love with it. Unfortunately it's pretty expensive, but I hope that I would be able to afford a wedding there, because it would be my absolute fairy tale dream.
For some pics, check out these weddings that took place at hatley. I've been looking through these pics and drooling lol

and just some general pics of hatley:

Just in case, I've also researched some other castles as well.
Boldt Castle in 1000 islands has a very (tragically) romantic story and also very beautiful, but unfortunately we can't have a reception in there, nor many indoor pictures.

And then Castle in the Clouds or Lucknow Castle in NH is pretty small, but it has an ABSOLU-FREAKING-TELY gorgeous view (http://www.erikmaziarz.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/shaunjackie27.jpg)! (and another view (http://photo-treasures.smugmug.com/photos/561123376_NC3Rg-L.jpg)pic) The pros are that it's gorgeous, got a gorgeous view, and just a beautiful venue. The cons is that it seems to be in the middle of nowhere, so I am not sure what is there for my guests and I to do in the area.

So what other nontacky castles are there in North America that I can have an intimate wedding at? I like the "castle" look rather than the "mansion/palace" look, for example, rocky walls, turrets, gardens, etc. And since we're not religious, we would rather have the ceremony outside in the castle gardens, at a view point, or facing the castle, probably not at a religious-looking chapel inside.

So, any other suggestions come to mind?

there's a castle up in kentucky, that's gorgeous(idk the name, it was out of our budget)...there's also one in central texas, called falkenstien(sp?) they rent for like up to 5g i think....BUT it's neat it sets high atop a hill....you can see it from the lake where my mom lives, it looks like it's in a hazy mist ;) it looks really cool from that distance, on rainy days.....

The Hatley Castle is gorgeous! And Victoria is a lovely location for a destination wedding. I hope it works out for you since it's so clearly your dream!!
But if you still need to research other options, I found this when trying to find a castle I remembered in Denver (probably not what you're looking for, anyway):

Not all are bona fide castles, but maybe there will be a hidden gem here.

Pity you don't live here in the UK. We have Castles galore. Most of which are older than America itself.

My Brother was going to Marry his American girlfriend at Hever Castle. 13th Century childhood home of Henry VIII's wife Anne Boleyn. But his girlfriend couldn't get a visa.

If you want to drool over Castles check out this site.

I know you are nowhere near. And a Wedding in the UK is probably well out of budget. But it's free to look. ;)

Yeah, I love Tudor history so it would be a dream to get married in Hever! But of course too expensive and more hassles

I'm thinking of the wineries that are like castles in Sanoma County.

Thank you very much for your great information.
Medieval Castles are available for weddings in almost every country of Europe. It will be complete with full costume, music and trained actors. An experienced wedding planner can do a lot more than simply book the castle for your wedding. A friendly wedding planner can also make all of the arrangements for costumes, period music, torches or other mood lighting, and find actors who can help bring the time period to life with their speech and actions.:realmad:
