:bawling:

This is purely just to vent and get it off my chest. I don't expect anyone to pity me.... i know i'm crying for no reason... but i'm just stressed.

Me and FH planned on starting to pay for things in feburary/march of next year (2010). That gives us 5 months for his business to take off or as a back up plan, go back to his old job which pays very well all the same. Right now, we just put everything into his business and its a rough patch.

I'm confident, and he is confident that we will have more than enough to spend on the wedding by the date. The fustration starts when i start finding vendors and photographers that i really want... but don't have the money at this exact moment to hold. I'm nervous that if i wait for even 5 months, that the venues i want will be booked or taken:bbconfused:

and i'm the type of person that when i see something, and i invision it...its very hard for me to accept anything else. And i'm so mad at myself:realmad: for even starting to plan this early and to start getting my hopes up!!! I brought the stress on my self and i'm hitting myself in the head right now for it. :bang_head:

I'm actually thinking about not going back to school as soon as i thought i was and just grabbing a job and putting all my money into reserving the important things as soon as possible...

and you know, it might just be the worried pessimistic in me... people might not even be thinking to grab the venue at that exact date....but i just know its going to be a popular date (already counted 25 11-11-11 brides on different boards) and you just never know!!!!!!

Too much stress WAY too far ahead of the date....

sorry for the long, useless vent but i just had to get it off my chest....

If you read...THANKS FOR READING lol!

My situation is a bit different in that we have to wait for a fiancee visa before we can even set a date.... but I know how you feel. I'm searching like mad to get 1st, 2nd, 3rd choices in the important things so that when I CAN set a date then it will be easier (in theory)... but the frustration is something I very much feel too. I would love to be able to just wham bam there that's booked!

We can commisserate with each other on this since it will probably be about the same time before I'll be able to set a date. :P

Thanks so much for relating with me :)

I think the key for me is learning not to be disappointed if things don't go exactly planned. If it works out that we have to have a small backyard wedding, it won't be what i wanted, but it will be special all the same. I'm still going to look for venues and maybe work on having an early relationship with them so that i may get a little sympathy and leeway with the payments.

I found a photographer that does gorgeous work and i am super set on having for our wedding. I emailed her back and forth and she was very nice. Even tho she can't hold the date until the contract is signed and the down payment is in, she said she would let me know if anyone is interested in the date before i'm able to pay so that we have a last chance to pay before she gives it away... and that made me feel super good:yesnod: .

I just wish it was that easy with the rest of the vendors. The ceremony vendor has been particularly hard with this

That sounds awesome though. I have the ceremony site picked out I think but none of the rest of it and I'm just gonna hope that one of the days we pick will be available when we can. The rest of it, I'm just very up in the air about and trying to figure out how to come as close to my budget as possible! lol if I think about it too much then that's where I start getting overwhelmed. You know how it goes... the whole "well if you book it now you get THIS wonderful package!" which fits of course perfectly in the price range... but will it still be there when I can book it? *grrr* lol

I think all of us have felt this way at one time or another, so you're not alone! The scariest and most stressful time of wedding planning is in the booking of locations and vendors!

But I promise you, everything will turn out beautiful and fine. There are a lot of great wedding vendors out there who can give you exactly what you want, and in my case, when I lost my cake baker TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING and got another at the last possible second, the end result was better than my original choice would have been.

So take a deep breath, and repeat this like a mantra: "I will have a beautiful wedding. Everyone will love it."

As far as the actual booking goes, rank-order your vendors' importance and book each as soon as you have the money to do so. My list looked something like:

1. Wedding Planner
2. Caterer
3. Travel accommodations to the island (We had a Destination Wedding)
4. Photographer
5. Cake Baker
6. Florist
7. Reception musicians/Deejay
8. Ceremony/cocktail hour musicians

I think that was my list! You'll probably want to add, omit, or reorder things according to your own needs. I know some people also have a limo or something, but we didn't. We also had our super-talented friends in charge of the music - in exchange for a free hotel room!

Haha, I hope I didn't overwhelm you!

OMG, the list is an AMAZING IDEA! :D

I'm going to do that right now in my wedding journal thread

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE AND GREAT IDEA RosieAngel!!!!!

Nah, you didn't overwhelm me... this is exactly what I've been doing. The only thing that's frustrating is the whole finding of someone that you really want and for me I can't even see if they are available on a date since I can't set it! lol I'm taking in pretty much in stride and just keeping lists of my favorites so that when I can set a date I can start seeing the prices again and get em booked asap.

My list:

1. wedding planner
2. location
3. photography
4. videography
5. makeup/hair
6. flowers
7. cake
8. all the other things. :P

On the plus side my dress is purchased (and I have it in my hot little hands), so is my jewelry, tiara, and shoes. So little by little I'm whittling the list down for the things I know I can do in advance. Both my FH and I are antzy to be able to actually set a date tho!

EDIT: Oh and I am keeping a file folder with pages torn out from magazines or printed off the internet of ideas for bouquets and decorations and all sorts of things.

I feel you! We had a date set in October but wanted to have an outdoor wedding so we decided something in the summer would be better. I don't want to wait until 2011 so that leaves us in 2010...which is less than a year away! I don't know if I can do it but I am sure going to try! I have been losing my mind trying to do planning and it's going to kill me soon!! I would make a list but it would be a million miles long since I haven't started yet - hehe!

Just so you know you aren't alone!! I think a lot of us are feeling the same way you are. :hug:We can do it!!

You are way ahead of the game right now if you ask me. 2011 is a long ways off and march 2010 is a good time to get things going. I dont see too many problems arising. Remember its a sales persons job to create urgency in reserving their services so they can get their money. Take a breather and do some paper planning then get your reservations going in Mar 2010.

Wish you all the best

Trust me,I know how you feel.My FH and I both work for his dad at his company and right now,the company is in a rough spot.I'm not depending on his parents to pay for the wedding but just knowing that there's money coming in,helps me sleep better at night.Today is the first day that I've started looking at dresses and whatnot so I can't really relate to trying to shop around for vendors and whatnot.Try taking a deep breath, clearing your head, and going at it again.
