So I heard today that vitamin C and parsley can be used to bring on a absent period. Does anyone know if there is anything to this? I am going to try it out regardless, it couldn't hurt. Feel free to add any other natural remedies you might know.

Can't hurt Danielle! Weren't we going to make a list of all kinds of old wives tales for you to try? I guess we'll have to add parsley to that list!

Interesting! I just looked through some of my herbal/homeopathic books, and they have suggestions for infertility and periods that are too long/heavy, but nothing for starting one.
ETA - did some research online on emmenagogues (herbs to start a period) and there is actually a lot of info out there. It looks like some of them are also abortives, so you'll want to be careful!

Thanks Sarah for the links. I found this about the Vitamin C on the second one.
Vitamin C - Ascorbic acid is the safest and reportedly most effective
emmenagogue that can be used after the menstrual flow has failed to appear.
Women report success even when three weeks "late." Six grams of vitamin C
(6000 mg) is the daily dosage needed to abort. Take 500 mg every hour for 12
hours a day for up to six days. CAUTION: This dosage may produce loose stools.

In my undergraduate days, I was part of the Feminist student association, and in its offices was a book on herbal remedies for feminine health. The only one I remember is parsley to start a period... because I thought it was weird. But it was a sort of zine-esque publication, so it's either a popular wives tale or true.

Ladies, I don't want to jinx anything but last night I drank 3 big glasses of oj and one this morning. And now I have terrible cramps. Either my body doesn't like all this oj, the provera cramps are coming back in full force, or AF is starting. I'll keep you posted.

Oh I hope that the Vitamin C worked!! How much better would that be - to drink OJ every month rather than taking the Provera!?!

Work is super busy right now, but I wanted to hop on here and give you an update. The cramps are gone and AF is NOT here. So I think maybe it was a combo of my wishful thinking and gas. So I made a vow to myself to stop obsessing over it till at least Sunday because I am just so busy at work and with my sister's wedding, I need to focus on those things for a little while.
Aw shucks Danielle
Be careful with Vitamin C. Anything can be dangerous when not used in moderation. I have a friend who got kidney stones on a regular basis and she found out it was because there was too much vitamin C in her diet. She cut back on her vitamin C intake and they've reduced dramatically.

I immediately thought diarrhea, since the caution was that it caused loose stools! :p Try to enjoy your sis' wedding this weekend, keyword being "try!"
