after searching hours for non religious, but also NOT outside ceremony venues... i stumbled upon the carnegie music hall.

The foyer there is GORGEOUS! Its used mostly for receptions but i think i would be beautiful for the ceremony.

But its expensive... very much so. I was giving myself a budget of 5000 for a dress...but i'm now thinking of getting a less expensive dress to hold the ceremony there.

just wondering... anyone had any experience with a museum wedding? was it worth it? very memorable?

I love it sooooo much too, but i'm trying not to get my hopes up just incase there is a problem with availability or costs

(but i dreamed about it all last night lol)... i'm going to go there sometime in january and see if i can reserve it a yr and a half in advance if i put half down now.

My high school choir sang there my sophomore year! It is fabulous and would go perfectly with your theme! However, VERY expensive I am sure. It would be very memorable for your wedding and definantly worth the cost!

:urgh: I just received an email back from their event planner with awesome and confusing news.

The awesome news was that they require NO DOWN PAYMENT TO RESERVE and our date was available to reserve it!:p

BUT she said that the hall was not "suitable" for a ceremony:blink:, but its suitable for a reception......

I don't understand why it matters what we use the space for...all we need are chairs and a wedding arch. I didn't know how to take that...is she telling me no or just wondering why i said ceremony instead of reception...

 maybe i should calm down...and not be so over excited lol

Hm. I would clarify with her just in case. Maybe she thinks you meant the use of a seperate ceremony site, versus the same area for ceremony and reception?

Yeah, I agree with Jeanne - I would write back and clarify that she understands you were hoping to use it for both. And if she still says it's not suitable then you might have to find a second location for the ceremony...:(

Even if you do have to find another place for the ceremony this would still be amazing for the reception .

But i did want to have the reception in a different site. I just wanted the ceremony and cocktail hour held there. I just don't understand why it matters... i'm not bringing in alot of decorations or anything...just an arch

thats really disappointing:bbconfused:

Huh. Do they provide catering if you were doing a reception there? Maybe that's why they don't want you doing a ceremony? Because they know they can book the space to someone else who would also pay for catering?

Just a theory...?

Yes they do, and i thought about that too. But they also do business events and meetings there. And i had planned on having an hour long cocktail hour there after words with food and drinks... so they would still be get something out of me for the hour long open bar and Hors d’oeuvres...

Hopefully i can call her and discuss it with her... i'm going to keep optimistic right now and not over think it.

One of my friends got married at the Palace of the Legion of Honor, an art museum in San Francisco. It was amazing. AMAZING. Everything was simply beautiful, white marble everywhere! And the bonus to being married in such a lavish setting is that you need very little, if any, decor.

She did hold the reception there afterwards, though! Which was also quite lovely! I don't know if that makes a difference at all.

Good luck working things out and tell us how it goes!
