Okay, so i am decided on a skyline reception theme. Pittsburgh has an AMAZING skyline and me and my FH are both in love with it. We have this picture hanging in our home.

very very beautiful at night. We are looking at venues that have that exact view...wall to wall windows.
I had the idea of blowing up these pictures of us... (which inspired my whole idea)

BUT...after that....its all kinda jumbled. A billion ideas but they aren't coherent lol.
SO, any ideas for anything reception/ invitation related would be GREATLY appreciated. :yesnod:

oooo... already found some amazing ideas :D
Tables-
I'm thinking right now black table cloths
and as centerpieces.. arrangements of black and white roses with alternating one of these city skyscraper candle holders on each table (large white candles inside)
http://www.shindigz.com/images/itm_img/7s057n.jpg
and these candle holders on every other table (since pittsburgh is the city of bridges)
http://www.shindigz.com/images/itm_img/9p464f.jpg
also, these candles on each table
http://www.shindigz.com/images/itm_img/p0279a.jpg
or we can make our own with clear plain candle holders and putting on these stickers
http://rlv.zcache.com/pittsburgh_skyline_sticker-p217751749641728564tdcj_210.jpg
and maybe shiny colored confetti or gold confetti on the black table so that it looks like lights
this theme is fun hehe :D

You guys are super cute and those pictures are fantastic! :soppy:
I'll have to think about it for a bit. Right now the only thing I can think of is somehow incorporating some sort of high rise building into your centerpieces somehow and having some sort of panoramic skyline photos on the wall.

Lots and lots of candles, navy blue, black, and silver:yesnod:. That will be so pretty and elegant. You might could research prom themes. We did a city theme one year in high school. However, it is amazing how much just lighting can do. I would talk to my venue. Maybe they have some tricks to make the room fit your theme! If not, it would be neat to have as many lights as possible out and use mainly candle light! OOO.... this could be fun! I am going to have to keep watching your planning!:lafhard:

I LOVE your ideas so far! You found some great stuff!!
I was initially drawn to a city theme for my own wedding because our colors are blue and silver/gray, but I dont even live in a big city or very near to one, so I just figured it would be kinda odd. We went with Moonlight instead.
So I will live vicariously through you for your beautiful city theme lol.
I cant wait to see all of this come together for your wedding!

Just found this website - some of the ideas are a little over the top but maybe it'll get the creative juices flowing!

Thanks everyone for the ideas and compliments...
gwenshack...i love that site. I saw the city skyscraper pieces and i think maybe one of them would be a good background for guests to take photos by. The one with lights is my favorite.
and i love that lil pittsburgh couple design caseyk37. lol, we knew what everything was as soon as we looked at it. :)

I thought it was really cute... even though I have no idea what any of those landmarks are!

lol. i think thats what makes it really cool. half of our guests won't know either until they look at the window. and everyone from pittsburgh will see that the couple are sitting at point park and there is the ppg building in the background with all the bridges
its really really cute :D

ohhhh! your stuff just looks so sophisticated, but fun at the same time!:yesnod:
my old high school did a city theme when i was a sophmore, the art classes had gotten together, and used projectors to trace skyscrapers onto black paper, and then cut it out, and used fishing line, to suspend them from the ceiling.....i wanna say they did all the major cities in Texas, b/c i distinctly remember seeing the SA skyline, with a tiny alamo tucked in.....and it was really pretty! the did all black silver and white, and i want to say touches of a teal/green, to pull the water into the theme...since most of our largest cities have big bodies of water in them ;)

that sounds like it was really swanky lol. Thats how i want my reception... very fun and contemporary... but beautiful at the same time.
This is the reception venue i was looking at. Its a resturant on the hills in pittsburgh. It has the most amazing view ever. The pic is a lil blurry but you can still see how the view looks thru the windows.

that looks awesome! heck, you wouldn't even need the "hanging cities"
ohhhh i LOVE that view!!! i think it all will tie in perfectly! i think i'd personally stick with just the black white silver and gold...mostly because, that's kind of light the street lamps(gold) meeting the star-lit sky(silver :)), black for night, and white for a wedding :yesnod:

Great ideas :). I really like the idea of confetti on the table too.I think it would give the black table cloth just an extra pop of color but not overpower it
