So we have finally set a date and now I can officially start my journal! ;)

I met Gary at work. I had worked there for a couple years before he started. I remember the day he started working there because there were a few others starting that day and I was thinking 'great, more new people we have to train' (lol) and I noticed him right away but didn't really say anything to him. I am a really shy person and have trouble opening up to most people but over the next few months I realized that I could tell him anything. I couldn't believe how easy it was for me to talk to him and we quickly became good friends. About a year after we started working together he asked me out and we had our first date, mini-golfing, on May 16, 2007 and we have been together ever since. He is perfect for me. It is amazing how much we have in common but not to the point where we drive each other crazy lol.

He propsed to me on December 18, 2008 under a giant Christmas tree in downtown St. Louis. It was nighttime and raining and he said he wanted to talk a walk. I thought he was crazy but agreed because I started to have a feeling about what was about to happen. We walked through the park lit with Christmas lights, huddled together under a giant umbrella, and up to the Christmas tree. Then he gave me a big hug and I felt him digging through his pocket. Then he gave me a kiss and put the ring in my hand while we were kissing so I looked down and saw the ring. Then he said "I love you so much. You are so beautiful and I can't wait to see how even more beautiful you look in 50 years. I want to grow old with you, will you marry me?" And of course, I said yes! (I had a feeling he was going to propose that night because we had been talking about getting engaged for a while and that night he was taking me to one of my favorite restaraunts that he happens to hate lol and I KNEW that there was a specific reason he suggested the restaraunt because he never wants to go there)

When we got engaged we were both seniors in college and decided we wouldn't pick a date until we both got better jobs after graduating. Well, he has started a new full time and I am still looking but we decided to go ahead and start planning anyway. So we picked April 24, 2010. I am really excited to start planning.

Last night we booked the reception hall and tonight we are booking the church. After that is done I can start planning everything else. :p

So far I have decided that I want my wedding colors to be pink and green. I am planning on having the bridesmaids wear link green dresses and maybe adding a light pink sash.

Oh good! I am glad to know we are on the same page lol. We actually just picked the wedding date last week and I felt like I wasn't giving myself nearly enough time to plan.

Wow, it has been a while since an update. Since I last posted we have booked a photographer and we booked our honeymoon this afternoon! For our honeymoon we are going on a 5 day cruise to Mexico. I am excited!

As far as the photographer, that is the most important expense to me for our wedding. I love photos and they last forever so I knew that I wanted to take the time to find the perfect photographer based on their photos and the packages they offered. We started looking at websites and contacting photographers but the first few we heard back from were all booked. :blink: I started to get really nervous! But finally we heard back from a few that were available and we were able to compare them and pick which one we liked best. I am really excited about the one we booked with. And we have engagement photos on November 15th which I am also excited about.

Our next goal is to book the florist and order the cake. Here is a picture of the cake I am going to bring in as inspiration for what we want:

Oh I almost forgot! We have decided on our invitations and our cake topper as well. My fiance was looking online at invitations and he fell in love with these Mickey Mouse invitations and I thought they were cute so we decided to go with those. My fiance is pretty much just like "whatever you want is what I want" so when he actually was really interested in these I was happy that we are going to have something that was his choice. ;)

The only thing about the invitations is that the colors are red and black but our wedding theme is pink and green. Do you guys think the invitations should match the wedding theme colors or do you think this will look ok?

And since we are going to have Mickey invitations we decided to have a Mickey cake topper because it is really cute and we weren't sure what kind of cake topper we wanted other than they fact that we did want a bride and groom figure. So we just ordered it off of ebay yesterday. I can't wait to get it!

Those are the bridesmaid dresses i want so bad but after davids bridal getting rude i changed my mind for making any further purchases with them. but i love them. FYI if you want them to dry clean your dress before any pictures are taken don't tell them you have tried it on =]

Wow! Everything looks great! My DH and I met at work too, but we were on our first date at a week, haha. We probably should have slowed down, but nothing we've done is slow I guess. I love your colors, I'm jealous!

I think the Mickey invitations would be just perfect. I personally wouldn't worry if they don't match your colors. :)

We had our engagement photos taken today. It was sooo much fun! I wish I could go back and do it again. LOL. She said they would be up in a week or 2... but I am hoping for much sooner! I am impatient. haha. But I will post them as soon as I get the link for the proofs.

On Saturday we ordered the flowers. I am SO excited about the bridesmaid's bouquets! I figured I would just order them pink and white flowers, but the florist showed me a flower that he thought would look nice. I LOVE them! They are called Stargazer Lillies and they are so big and beautiful. I decided that that is what they would carry in their bouquets.

I :hearts: stargazer lilies! So are you going to mix them or have just stargazers? I'm not sure I've seen a bouquet of just stargazers.

I love stargazers too! Just be sure your florist cuts of the stamins before your girls carry them. They can stain like crazy!

I think your wedding is turning out beautifully! You are moving right along! Pretty soon it will be all planned and you won't have anything left to do but sit back and enjoy!

I love your colors!! Your bouquet looks so beautiful!! And my Mom had stargazers as her BMs bouquets!! Here's what her's looked like. She got the BM's for $7 and both the brides mini bouquets of red roses and mini calla lilies for $25.

It has been a long time since I have written anything in here. I've just been so busy with the holidays coming up that I really haven't done much wedding related lately. But I have decided that I want to have someone sing "You're My Best Friend" by Queen during the ceremony. It is one of my favorite songs and I think it would work perfectly. I found this really cute idea for a wedding favor today. They are personalized packets of flower seeds that the guests can take home and plant. And considering it is an April wedding, I think it would be a cool idea. Do you think it would go over well with the guests? It is actually really reasonably priced, too.

Well, it is definitely past due for an update. And its just about 2 months until the big day so here are some updates. ;)

First of all the gifts.

Today I found a really great deal on jewelry for my bridesmaids. I bought them each a necklace, earring, and bracelet pearl set for the wedding which I am really excited about.

And finally a decoration.

We are going to put this on the head table. I found the pink and green vase a year ago at an antique shop and fell in love with it. I knew that I was going to incorporate into the wedding/reception somehow. Then in October we found these pretty wooden pink and green flowers to go with it.

(in the pictures the flowers are taller in the vase than they will be at the wedding. we left them in the plastic wrap and everything until it gets closer so they won't get ruined.)

I hear you. I'm not good with heels either! And I knew my wedding day wouldn't be a good day to experiment with them either. ;) I knew I'd do a face plant like I did on my prom night. :bbredface: :rofl: I didn't want a repeat of that!

I put the invitations in the mail on Saturday and heard from multiple people saying they received them yesterday. That is so exciting! I got my first RSVP back already yesterday by hand. And today I already got one back in the mail! I don't know how the heck they got it to me so quick... :blink: But yay! So far we have 3 people coming and no "No" responses yet. LOL

I feel like I am at that point where I am almost finished with everything. I have a couple little tweaks to make on my program and then get those printed out. I am also waiting for the candy to arrive so I can start putting together the favors. Other than that... I think I am done. But why can't I stop worrying that I am forgetting something important? lol. Thinking you are pretty much done getting ready is kind of a scary thing. :blink:

We just got our first wedding present in the mail! Its in a big box from Target but I want to wait for my fiance to be here so we can open it together. I hate waiting though! lol This is going to be hard.

So this is pretty much going to be a wedding weekend for me. Tomorrow morning I am going to a bridal shower for a family friend and then tomorrow night is my bachelorette party. Then Sunday is my bridal shower! :laugh2: Its going to be a fun weekend. All of my bridesmaids are driving pretty far so we decided to do both the bachelorette and bridal shower in the same weekend so they could stay the night. The closest bridesmaid lives about an hour away, the other two are over 2 hours away. I have a 4th bridesmaid who is not coming to the parties this weekend though because she lives 700 miles away.

Unfortunately the weather is supposed to be kind of rainy with possible storms. Luckily it is an inside wedding. I would still prefer a sunny day though! lol
