Hi!! I'm in desperate need of help!! We had our hearts set on a beach wedding in Hawaii however some drama has come up with my family and now we have to keep a wedding back home in California as an option. However I haven't seen anything nice enough for a wedding!! (Please keep in mind our budget is only $20,000.) Is there any beach front place anywhere in California where we could hold our wedding out on the beach?? TIA!!

Dearmissie I would need to know where you are located and where you would like to have this beach wedding. California is a huge state so I would need a locations. Are you all going to be driving to this locale or will you be flying? What date is the wedding and how many guests are you expecting. The amount of guests will indicate how much the hotels will charge you so I will need to kow that as well.

After you give me the information give me a few hours to contact a few hotels to see what kind of deals I can muster up for you that would fit your budget. If you need to contact me you can visit my website and fill out the contact form Reference your OneWed user name. If you look at my onewed profile it also has my contact information.

dearmissie, have you considered Tahoe? While it's like in CA & NV, it's a heck of a lot closer to home than Hawaii...

Try these:

Zephyr Cove Resort (http://www.zephyrcove.com/events/index.cfm) - I just went to a wedding here on the beach and it was beautiful, and they take care of EVERYTHING.

(not a beach, but gorgeous nonetheless) Forest House Lodge (http://foresthouse.com/location.html) in Forest Hill quoted me $16k for 150 guests... that was one of two dream locations for me I just couldn't afford it.

A little piece of heaven in Sonora area, the Lazy Z Resort (http://www.lazyz.com/weddings/index.html) offers the most beautiful weddings I've seen (right up there with Forest House).

As for a beach on the coast, Seascape Beach Resort (http://www.seascaperesort.com/index.cfm/Weddings-Wedding_planner.htm) looks gorgeous.

How beachy do you want? Like, sand between your toes, or overlooking the beach?

I'm located in the Bay Area however I was born in Sacramento and raised in San Diego, with family still in both areas. I'm open to ANY place in California. We can drive or fly there, no biggie. It'll still be easier for my family than going to Hawaii. We're having our wedding on July 1, 2011, far off but we have to figure out if we want it here in California or in Hawaii by THIS DECEMBER. We are having 150 guests. If it's near the Bay Area we'd like to bring our own catering, my future MIL is very picky with her Asian food.

Thanks so much!!

Thanks so much, I looked into the three!! Will show DF!! And I'd like it as beachy as I could get. If I could have sand between my toes I'd love it!! That is my dream!! However if I could only get overlooking.. I guess I'd have to settle.

I'm working on it. Waiting to hear back from a few places. I found an All-inclusive on Malibu beach. Waiting to hear the $$. Hopefully not too expensive.

FFC had some great links. So did DecknAshley and the others that posted.Make sure you look into all of them. Never hurts to shop around. I think with your budget you can do alot. Especially considering you are having a beach wedding. that should save you a bit.

Well, if you're open to Tahoe, I recommend Zephyr Cove Resort - the bride offered baskets of flip flops for the guests because it was in the sand.. and the bride and bridesmaids were barefoot! They have offer everything as well I think.

However, if you have to have the ocean, Monterey Beach Resort (http://www.montereybeachresort.com/) is centrally located for your family and it's on the beach.

I hope you find somewhere that's perfect and affordable!!

WISE WORDS! I shopped around for over a year before I could settle on one place - merely because I couldn't afford most places. I fell in love with the two in particular and couldn't afford neither one!

Being from Sacramento, you *might* have heard of Crawford's Barn? Not a beach, but it's cheap!!!! (Also where I tied the knot!)

Thanks CP!! I did look at all the sites given, I contacted the ones that got my interest. Waiting to hear back with them with a proposal.

My absolute favorite hotel is on the beach in Oxnard. Not a fancy city, but a very, very nice beach. It is just south of Ventura. The beach is wide and very clean. There is a large city park right next to the hotel, so that may mean the option of cheaper reception.
Our favorite hotel is the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach: www.embassymandalay.com
The park right next to it is the Oxnard Beach Park: http://www.visitoxnard.com/listings/index.cfm?action=display&listingID=132&menuID=619&hit=1&catid=7 (this link isn't so good for learning about the park, but there are contact numbers listed, so I thought I'd include it).
I hope if you don't get married in Hawaii, you can go there on your honeymoon. It's beautiful!

Dana Point and Laguna Beach have some fantastic beaches. From what I've read that's a top spot to have a wedding ceremony and there are alot of hotels that will do a beach ceremony package (I live in the area and have been researching for my own wedding).

Dana Point is beautiful!! Thanks for reminding me!! I'm going to look into it. Laguna Beaches prices are sky rocketing. Most of it is out of our price range.

Have you looked into places like Hotel Laguna? They were about 2x's what I wanted to spend on a location, but my budget is only about $5k.

I was going to suggest Dana Point too. Also San Clemente, there are some relatively affordable venues near the San Clemente Pier, and the area is very charming. Plus the pier itself is gorgeous.

I used to live in Newport Beach and there were some spectacular wedding there.

My favorite was the Hayatt on Maui been there on our honeymoon and a few more times since.

Have you looked into Couples Resorts (couples.com) ... similar to Sandals but nicer. Tell them Bob Strano sent you and ask for a deal ;)
